Really appreciate the mini lesson behind the whole premise for narrative story beats and expectations. As while I hadn’t explained or told her about it for the longest time, it drove my mom crazy how I always knew the who dunnit or climax of a show or movie, usually within the first act. Even tho while I’m aware of most concepts around and understand narrative devices and the hero’s journey, that’s not actually how I typically suss it out. Though it has kind of somewhat ruined procedural shows especially. As they are even more susceptible and rely on easily predictable tropes. Since it usually is knowing common tropes, subversions, red herrings and or misdirects that lead to me figuring things out. The biggest one being the concept of Chekhov’s guns, which rarely fails, as it would typically be considered bad writing if it did. Meaning anything and everything that happens should have a purpose and a pay off. It’s often referred to as loading and subsequently firing Chekhov’s gun. Coming from Chekhov’s premise that if you see an ornate gun on the wall that draws your attention, that gun better be fired by the end of the narrative. Otherwise it’s a superfluous and unnecessary element that should be omitted. So anytime you notice a seemingly out of place and or seemingly irrelevant detail to the narrative, it’s actually likely incredibly important and often involved in the crux of the twist/subversion. So between that general understanding of narrative story beats and other common tropes, it’s usually really easy to suss out the climax and conclusion. Which is sometimes a bummer to be able to instantly predict endings. Like I said procedurals are especially ruined for me as a result. Tho it is fun when you’re watching with someone and you’re able to figure it out before anyone else. As it’s always enjoyable to bounce back and forth with guesses or ideas. Anyways sorry to ramble on, it’s just a topic I find especially interesting, but it’s not something everyone is super familiar with.

Hollow

Pause it at 15:19 and you see two dicks on the board not just one lol

J-Rod

"people who spend their life avoiding death are already dead" That is such an amazing line. It sums up the entire episode.

YukoValis

Real talk, if I was interested in a girl, but then saw she'd taken a selfie like Jessica did, at a person's funeral, I'm staying far away.

Anzac-A1

That is the magic of R&M. It makes you think you are smart.

Cat on Crack

Not to be gross but since it kind of came up in the episode I would like to address this real quick. The correct way to handle catching a very young (pre-teen) child masturbating (which happens way more often than most parents think) is not to punish your child because punishing your child in such situations has been shown through various rather extensive studies to cause psycho-sexual dysfunction later in life. The correct response is to use the moment as an opportunity to start giving your child some very important early life lessons about the nature of Privacy as it relates to themselves and others and the idea of "private spaces" vs. "non-private spaces". This is also a good opportunity to teach them about the "no-no-zones" of their body that are only allowed to be touched by themselves and doctors/parents for proper reasons. This is actually really important because it gives your child the essential yet minimal foundation of sexual language and knowledge that can provide them a form of safety barrier against potential sexual exploitation by others. However, REMEMBER THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO NOT PUNISH YOUR CHILD FOR TOUCHING THEMSELVES OR EXPLORING THEIR OWN BODY NO MATTER HOW YOUNG THEY ARE WHEN YOU CATCH THEM OR YOU RUN A VERY VERY HIGH RISK OF DAMAGING THE PSYCHO-SEXUALLY LATER IN LIFE. Education instead of punishment is the right path to take. Also, on a separate note, the anime of Akria is VERY VERY OVERRATED in MY OPINION. This is only my opinion so if you enjoy the anime then I am happy for you. I have never read the Manga however so it may be really awesome. Anyways, I really hope this comment does not offend or disturb anyone.

Lucifer Moon

Really enjoyed that lesson you had at the end, you really schooled us on that subject you went to school for... Or you're a prewatcher!

Kawaii Edgelord

I'm a little surprised you haven't seen Akira

Ronix

OMG. AKIRA WATCH THROUGH INCOMMING. Lol Old school anime is mind melting

Yahroh

WHAT! Alicia the gamer doesn't know shit about Minecraft?

Cthulhu Polar

The fascist morty is suppose to be a commentary on how some of the fan base would complain about how the show "should" be

Gorotsuki

Morty passed on skinny dipping with Jessica and her friends for that vision too makes it even tougher pill to swallow

Daniel Gonzalez

Alicia really got psychic powers from watching Mob Psycho 100 because she predicts all the plots

Accel

Fun Fact: Fascist Morty is a comment on how there are viewers who want to "go back to classic Rick and Morty Adventures" Also Alicia predicting the plot twists are still crazy

Cole Savoie

Homie was really hitting the diglett in the intro. Honestly, pop off queen. Edit: the fact that she said she’s popping off in the outro discussion, yeah you are. We win these lol

NekoSoophie!

Damn Girl you should watch a Video about the "Dan Harmon Story Circle" its so great how you analyse the shit out of it. Love you and happy to support such a smart person :)

JansWichtig

was good opening for youtube lol and the prewatch comments can go fug themselves i say, Alicia is a queen and a prophet :D

james blaire

The way you manage to predict stuff is downright uncanny sometimes. On another series, I've even seen you predict stuff that the even creators of the show didn't even think about at the time. You coul be a writer.

Royce[

And in this episode Alicia uses the latent powers of her fortune teller model to actually look at the future. Holy shit that was incredible

Shadowsofpain

Yooo watching Akira on the channel would be a fun tine

Secco Mode (Periwinkle)

Holy crap I cannot believe she got the nursing home situation so quickly that's gonna be a good YT video

Ranginald Vagel

Hey, we saw that bear-species in the first interdimensional cable, I think!

leviathan_13

Since you're getting pretty close to caught up, I thought I'd just mention the existence of the show Solar Opposites. It's really good, similar to RnM. (Tbh I enjoy it more overall than certain seasons of RnM)

Zeallust

"Fun" fact: there's a ticker on the bottom of the Nancy Grace scene that says that the judge did indeed commit suicide.

Liesmith

Alicia's bluescreen at the introduction of [German Soldier] Morty was hilarious. Also, Wasp Morty only got a triple-kill because he was spawn camping.
