I really hope she comes around to the show again in the future, even if only privately. Having someone drop the show bc of shit like that is heartbreaking to me

2023-09-18 12:26:03 +0000 UTCNo offense to Alicia I love her content and her analysis usually so I hope this is viewed as constructive criticism but the reactions towards Erica are what causes things to spiral poorly on youtube like with what happened with Kaguya-Sama involving Miko. She misreads/misinterprets what is being said on screen and comes to her own conclusions which she even said while complaining about the character. But she is making truly mean/rude towards Erica and praising Iris for only being justifiably angry with Violet, while on screen Erica is literally staring down at her food mouth shut listening to Iris talk shit about Violet because she decided Erica was being mean to Violet and hated her because she responded with "Not all of us" when the star doll of the company says they're all basically still newbies. This isn't a big deal to mix up on its own cause the episode spells out Ericas feelings/insecurities as the episode goes and you're not supposed to know why she made the comment just yet, but still, that is why she just assumes the worst about a character in shows cause she feels they've slighted characters shes overprotective of. Then people in the twitch chat respond with the ? emoji because they're confused about what shes saying because shes literally misquoting dialogue and characters and she literally tells them "Eat Shit and Die" which is just crazy in general to just automatically assume is people trying to mock you or be mean but especially to Subs on Twitch Chat who are the people who are literally trying to support and be a part of her community the most out of people watching her content. Which with how toxic people on youtube typically are won't be responding too well. Like I don't even like to comment on stuff because it makes me uncomfortable but when she said that to her chat I felt compelled to pause the video make a comment. I can only imagine what some asshole on youtube would say under anomity.

Iris was the one talking about how cold and unempathetic she was. Edit: I like your reactions, and you're normally spot on when it comes to emotional conflicts in shows, but you completely misread Erica in this episode. She is insecurity incarnate, but she was never hostile towards Violet. In fact, she related to Violet since Violet, if anything, was even more poorly suited to being a doll than her. She did develop as a character in this episode, but it wasn't by learning to accept Violet. My read was that she grew by learning to persevere in her dream despite her own insecurities and inability to match up to Cattleya. It was a huge deal that she was able to stand up for Violet in a way that she never would have been able to for herself.

2023-09-16 21:26:13 +0000 UTCTo be on Erica's side a bit here x) The second time you got mad at Erica, it was actually Iris who was judging Violet, not Erica (camera angle was on Erica, but it was Iris talking). And the first time, she was not actually sending hate towards Violet, but actually Cattleya. They've been working as dolls for the same amount of time, but in that time Erica has not been able to perform in the same ways she has. Still a bit of jealousy for sure, but she wasn't sending hate towards the new girl x)

2023-09-16 14:33:57 +0000 UTCnot gonna lie, i'm always a bit confused when someone refers to violet as a child, until i remember what her actual age is. the art style makes her look quiet a bit older than she actually is. although i guess her being so young explains her societal troubles with fitting in and why she doesn't have a good grasp on her emotions yet.
