Honestly I think they didnβt have him say no on screen because itβs funnier that way. You know Rick wouldnβt accept it either way, so flashing to them dealing with the consequences instead just feels better.

2023-10-03 11:16:20 +0000 UTCTo be fair, if Rick was going to say no, they would have just had him say no. The fact that they didn't means that they wanted to leave his answer open to interpretation. Personally, I don't think it actually mattered what his answer was. Night-Summer wanted control of the entire family, and Day-Rick was not subservient to her, Night-Rick was. Moreover, if given enough time, Rick would see the somnambulator destroyed. From Summer's perspective, it just wasn't worth letting Rick accept the deal, when she could "Seize the day" with his help while he was asleep, but would see certain suppression otherwise.

2023-10-01 22:17:55 +0000 UTCGene is one of my favorite characters. He doesn't do much, he's a regular ass dude who lives next door to Rick's Sci-Fi bullshit. Same reason early Jerry was one of my favorites, just a regular ass dude. Also, despite Gene being a favorite, I do NOT want him to be more involved than he already is. He's perfect as just a neighbor who tries to help but butts in on stuff he doesn't understand and gets shut down.
