He is just some teenage boy that was basically forced into becoming a Demon Slayer and is now told to go out and fight monsters that are far beyond human, even though, according to himself, he is extremely weak. It would be normal to be scared shitless in that situation, so while it is true that he is easily scared I wouldn't say he is a coward just because he is afraid of something that is objectively scary and dangerous.
