2024-04-14 02:23:07 +0000 UTCInventing an airbending technique isn't a part of the requirement. It can take the place of some of the requirements. A normal airbender will get their tattoos by just learning all of the known techniques.

And how ALL the sages have them? Well, it's never highlighted in the show, but they're Airbender Master Tattoos. You earn them by *Mastering* Airbending. In fact, inventing a whole new Airbending technique is part of the requirement. So when Aang says he "made up" the Air scooter, that's him alluding to inventing *a whole new move* from scratch, as part of his journey to become a master like the old Sages. Also "I'm to young to die!! O_O" "I'm not, but I still don't wanna! D8" Is one of my all-time bits from this show ^^
