For a better ride into it just decide on the ones that you find the characters interesting, they tend to make or break the show especially in Gundam

It's a self-contained story you could jump right into, it's fairly short and it's fairly new too! *Edit - the broad plots of Gundam series are incredibly political. War is Hell, with Giant Robots.
