Less told about it, and more figured out how to firebend, waterbend and earthbend all by herself as a 5 year old or something.

It's less about how Aang is an air bender so he'd struggle to learn his natural opposite, being earth. Instead, more so the teachings of earth bending just don't mesh well with his personality. Korra struggled with air bending because she was too hot-headed, stubborn, and not spiritual at all , while Aang struggled with earth bending because he's so used to pacifism and running away from his problems, not really facing them head on at all unless forced too. Korra probably would have struggled with fire bending if she was raised as a regular water bender until she became 16, which you know- was the norm for the past millennia before Aang- but she was told of her role as the Avatar even earlier than Aang was.
