JoJo’s update

Hey besties!

Ant agreed to watch episode 7 without me and fill me in on what I missed. I heard there was some questionable stuff and tbh I’m not really someone who can stomach SA stuff even if it is borderline. I also don’t want to taint my interpretation of the show by one bad episode or scene.

Hope y’all are cool with my decision <3 we will just push onto episode 8 of part 3. Thanks!

Comments

Good, that episode is forever tainted for me anyhoo

Yagi di Hoshi

Yeah no, Strength is a weird episode but it has like no impact on the story so it's fine. Luckily there's not a lot of that kinda stuff in Jojo. It's only Strength and the Alessi two parter later on. Definitely skip those when you get to it, they're not fun to watch and idk what Araki was on with those episodes lol. Luckily they're not important to the plot either so big skip.

NateLocke

Sexual assault, there's a scene on this episode were a monkey tries to do this to the underaged girl while she's naked

Rick Baron

Sexual Assault.... and Sexual Assault.

Juinichi Hibiki

What is SA and why aren't we watching this episode?

Desert Penguin

Ok, cool👍 Sounds good, enjoy the binge:3

dirkdiggler69

i think its one of the more bizzare episodes in jojo and its a bad episode any way

Fullbuster Gaming

No no, I understand why you skipped it, I just brought an example why I don't skip episodes in any show. That's all.

Barnabás Mucsi

:3 we are watching it on Hulu now so it’s no longer censored. Also yup we already recorded episode 8 and he did recap it at the start

aliciaxlife

He recapped it in our recording for episode 8 ^^ I didn’t skip it because of it being filler but because I don’t feel comfortable with SA content

aliciaxlife

It’s a really healthy outlook to criticize things you love. I talked about that before when I was criticizing cyberpunk. Saying it’s like a relationship you can love a person but still want better from them. Doesn’t mean ya love them any less

aliciaxlife

Also, I am a couple of episodes behind, so if you figured it out already, then my bad

dirkdiggler69

Ok, that's understandable. Maybe include a breakdown of the episode from Ant at least in the beginning of the next episode. Also, I was looking, and for me at least, if you have Amazon Prime, then the uncensored version of Jojo's is available there for free. I know people were asking for that, so if you do have Amazon prime, it is available there👍

dirkdiggler69

But I'd still like to watch the that Ant recap it to you at least, even if you don't watch the episode itself.

Barnabás Mucsi

Do what you want. I personally don't like the concept of skipping episodes even if they are not important or there's a few questionable scenes if the episode isn't around it. That was my problem with Naruto Shippuden too, I'd rather stop watching it than skipping the filler. But I like JoJo and for just one scene I wouldn't skip a whole episode, and also I'm not easily triggered. But you do what you do and I do what I do.

Barnabás Mucsi

I like that episode, because it's funny.

Barnabás Mucsi

Eyyy ant ma boi, u take some rest queen tho

Soul_XIII

Honestly this is such a good decision, that episode is so randomly weird and such a departure from a lot of jojo villain's 'evilness'.

Vincent

I feel the same, I like parts of 3 but over all its my least favorite too. I liked it when I first watched it but after seeing the later seasons then reading the manga I realized how much better the rest of the stories are! Feels like Araki just threw EVERY idea at the wall to see what would stick in p3 lol glad he evolves as a writer, wish every mangaka did that!

GormleyPeach

I criticize all of my favorite media because i love it.

Kawaii Edgelord

totally a good call, part 3 is also one of my least favs bc of how.. unnecessary a lot of the stuff is. i need jojo fans to realise that araki is not immune to criticism. Warning for episodes 32 and 33 because those are really weird.

joseph joestar's number one fan

"part 7 or 8" don't even have anime adaptations. there's nothing to be confused about. she explained why she didn't want to be exposed to it. that's all there is to it.

Youmu Senju

If that scene is creepy as fuck, i don't wanna imagine your reaction to certain scenes in Part 7 and 8. And i never even attempted to guilt her, i expressed confusion about her skipping the episode.

mmg86

yeah, hey, how about don't do any of the things you just did in that comment, okay? the content being avoided is creepy as fuck and it can be triggering. if she's not comfortable with it, then she doesn't have to watch it, and passive-aggressively guilting her about it is very uncool.

Youmu Senju

something gets brought up later but it can be covered by a summary from Ant

Youmu Senju

It's fine if you want to skip the episode, but i want to say that it's only a scene in it, not what the episode revolves around, and that it confuses me a little that you won't watch it (the episode) because of what you fear it might depict. To someone who has seen the episode and read the manga, it sounds very similar to skipping an episode because you heard a random background character in it will be harmed or threatened to be harmed in a specific way, like, say, getting a hand chopped off. I assume you won't end up reacting to the episode, even if Ant ended up finding it harmless? I mean, the whole point is getting blind reactions from both of you, so i guess him reacting to his second watch would be pretty weird... well, here's hoping his recap is entertaining to listen to.

mmg86

Ah that episode...completely understand. Like the other helpful comments here mentioned: I can also confirm you aren't missing that much. No deep character developments or anything that really gets brought up again that I can remember.

Convergeman

Honestly I appreciate it too. Nobody likes that episode and it’d suck to have the show ruined for you by that stupid scene

Aspy 130

Honestly a good call, it's better to completely opt out of the scene than watching it without knowing if it crosses a line for you or just inches infinitely closer to it. No harm done in skipping that at all. :)

Quinton Macejkovic

It's fine, can't wait for the next episode

TrinitytheApostle

Yeah don't worry about it, it's not really important to the overall story, it just shows you that animals can have stands too, but yeah that episode is a bit SUS (also don't be too harsh on the writer it was the 80's and some things that are not ok to show here on the west were ok to show in japan the anime adaptation has taken feedback from this part to remove some questionable scenes like that product of the times and culture in future parts, also the author no longer does those kind of things)

Rick Baron

All good, Ant recapping the important stuff is more than enough. I think it's a shame overall cause it'd be best if you could watch it but ultimately it's your decision and a recap is enough. At most you could just have Ant stream it after watching it and skip over the uncomfortable scenes but again that's up to you. As mentioned by someone else some later episodes also have some potentially very uncomfortable scenes, so feel free to skip those too. My only real concern is they still have good moments in the episodes I'd want to see your reaction to but I don't mind if you just don't watch them. Do whatever you think will give you the best experience.

Jake Fuller

It's fine to skip the episode in question so don't worry about it

Damsgaard

I'm afraid

Rat#394

The episode in question doesn't have any relevance to the rest of show so you good

Unsaidrumble

Good for you cause that episode is really really bad and it absolutely taints the entire series.

Alopex The Wanderer

Definitely understand and tbh if I'd known beforehand I would have skipped that episode as well! You won't be missing any major story points and honestly you're better off in the long run

Cark

Ant's a real one

LampyLust

That's fair, has a pretty messed up scene and its an episode not important to the story so no worries queen :)

Joey Cat

That episode always didn't sit well with me anyway

kywolf55

Understandable, have a nice day

Marco Orrego

Totally agree. Part 3 has some rough episodes before it really starts to hit its stride, and episode 7 is the biggest pitfall. You could just read the wiki entry or have Ant summarize it and not miss out on anything. I'd say episode 10 is where Part 3 starts to find its rhythm, but that's just me.

Ryan Long

No problem, I always skip it too!

Gabriel Walton

Oh that’s completely understandable Alicia. This is one of those episode that is real disturbing. You don’t miss out on anything for skipping to episode 8.

Mr. 2Dirty

Nothing important happens in the episode anyway, so I am fine with people skipping it. The only remotely noteworthy thing that happens is that we find out that animals can have stands.

Jay Redmond

Y'all both could've skipped it tbh it's not really important to the story

Enchiladas

No problem.

Carter Skjerven

Yeah i was dreading you having to watch this one... good idea to skip

Enchanted Skullbit

This episode is unique in the series just for that, but is really nothing a would make a japanese person unconfortable , just westerners

Eduardo Enriquez

Fair love ya bestie

Omegataku .

Oh yeah, no that one is way worse honestly.

Bob

Yup, fair. The perp pays for it with their life but its still an extremely uncomfortable episode, I always skip it on rewatch.

Diogenes

Ant will recap it at the start of episode 8 ^^

aliciaxlife

There are episodes of Jojos I've never watched for similair reasons, no harm in it and it'll help keep the whole experience more enjoyable for everyone if you don't force yourself into anything too uncomfortable. Good for you.

Dysike

Nothing really happens but the episode isn’t needed.

Sharktatstic_ Gaming

Thank god. I can handle that stuff, but from watching your reactions this is definitely the best choice for you. There’s no shame in understanding your comfort zone.

Rare

We as JoJo fans do not claim this episode

Zackerex

Understandable. Another one that has some weird borderline SA vibes is a two parter later in stardust crusaders with episodes 32 and 33 in case you would rather Ant recap you on those as well

Secco Mode (Periwinkle)

Oh I had to think of what you mean real quick, but then I remembered.

pur3

Understandable, nothing ended up really happening but it was still very strange and disturbing. Good decision on your part if you can't take this kind of thing, it's not a really impactful episode storywise anyway. Can't wait to see episode 8 :)

Bastiwen

That's fair. Will we be seeing the Ant only episode or will you just go for the next episode and start with Ant's recap?

Bob

damn but understandable

Tobi.SG

Sending love to Ant. (Few hugs to Alicia too)

Ivan
