Even with an arranged marriage he doesnt want, even with having to deal with his family again, he was willing to put up with it all bc he saw Pudding as the one good thing to come out of the whole situation. Now he finds out even that was all a false hope and that there is no good for him to cling onto from this whole thing.

(But Oda does good work regardless, some people are just good at catching the cues and the anime only made it easier to notice) Pudding is written very well, a betrayal should be surprising but not without any hints. (In terms of a story, though it doesn't necessarily have to be a surprise, it just should never be without any warnings even if you only know they are warnings afterwards)

The difference with Lola is that they got to know her before knowing who she truly was. Luffy and Nami though unquestionably trusted Pudding. They seem to constantly have to be reminded about being in enemy territory and that said territory is that of an emperor. And with Brook, instead of letting the enemy know his plan he should just shut up and see what Big Mom thought he was doing to see if he could steer her in a different direction. There was no need to tell her exactly what he was doing. Big Mom doesn’t know Brook knows about the red poneglyph, the crew just learned about them a few days ago. If she asked him if he was interested in the block he could have lied and said he’s never seen a red one before.

The ones that are rather good in such situations are Zoro, Robin, Sanji and Nami – and Pudding hit the weak spot of Nami and is automatically a weak spot of Sanji and Brook. Brook's actions on the other hand make full sense with more information.

He literally told her his plan, why do that? Also, anybody else frustrated by how naive the Straw Hats are? They arrive in the emperors sea, meet a daughter and just think “ah yes, this girl who is the daughter of an enemy, on this sea of theirs, is really going to be on our side” and just never question anything. Oda can right greatness but honestly he makes the SH look like a bunch of children.
