As far as I'm concerned there's only one person in this entire series that can get Luffy to think rationally: Jimbei. And I think a big part of that is Jimbei goes out of his way to consider "what would Luffy do?" before trying to have that rational conversation.

The Grand Fleet just said screw it we ride or die regardless, that is not a "Formal Alliance". And saying someone is reading too deep into something in a story like One Piece where foreshadowing can be done 800+ episodes ahead of an event or where what seems like an insignificant event or line of dialogue/monologue can become the entire focus of a future arc is a wild take.

Luffy outright rejected it, and extended a hand of friendship instead. Meaning, outside groups _attempted_ to form an alliance with the Straw Hats while Nami wasn't present, and the alliance was rejected. Not because she was missing, but as something that reinforces the overall trend. You do know that this is an intricate and deep story, with layers and layers of foreshadowing and meaning, right? This isn't something simple like Spongebob or anything. This is a story that you can actually read pretty deeply into, and form some substantive theories by noticing trends and remembering history. Even if it doesn't actually build into the plot itself, theories like this feed into characterization.

But yeah, a general rule of thumb for Oda: if you're old and ugly, it generally means that you didn't accomplish your dreams. If you're old and good looking, then you're happy and fulfilled in life. For example, Shakky is in her sixties, and in Oda's vision for Nami, if Nami fulfills her dreams, then she'll look just like Shakky does when she reaches sixty, herself. Linlin is also in her sixties, and she aged like shit.

Every time Luffy has formed a significant, formal alliance for the Straw Hat Pirates with another group, Nami has been present. - Luffy agreed to help the Alabastan Princess (via agreement with Igaram, as representative of the Royal Guard); Nami was present. - Luffy formed an alliance with the Franky Family and Galley-La to raid Enies Lobby; Nami was present. - Luffy agreed to an alliance with the Heart Pirates via Law, to destroy Doxflamingo and as a consequence, take down Kaido; Nami was the only other person who was present. - Luffy agreed to the formation of the Pirate-Samurai-Mink Alliance with Momo, Inuarashi, and Nekomamushi, to actively fight against Kaido; Nami was present. - Luffy is in the process of forming an alliance with the Fire Tank Pirates to kill Big Mom; not only is Nami present, she is actively emphasized. Notice in that dramatic scene at the end of 826, when it pans to Bege, and then to Luffy, that Nami is fully on screen alongside him. This trend is _only_ true for Nami. She has been present for the agreement of every formal alliance between the Straw Hat Pirates (per Luffy) and another, outside group. Zoro has the next highest tally, but he wasn't present for the agreement with Law, or, obviously, for this ongoing meeting with Bege. No one else comes close. This is the first one that Sanji has attended, Usopp, Robin, and Franky have only been witness to the alliance that was formed on Zou, and this is the second alliance that Chopper and Brooke have been present for.
