The coolest thing about Ant-Man (in my opinion) is the concepts surrounding it. Darren Cross was basically a vehicle to explore these concepts in detail. He doesn't need to be a great villain when all he's supposed to do i emphasize things in the universe of the movie.

Those scenes are so recognizable as his style I immediately thought of him, he always has such snappy editing in his films. I wonder if he had a hand in story-boarding. That being said WATCH THE CORNETTO TRILOGY (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The Worlds End) Edgar Wright is a very good director, they are very good movies

2025-01-22 20:15:09 +0000 UTCI'm very used to Hank Pym as Antman, in the comics he was actually a founding member of the avengers alongside the Wasp, Ironman, the Hulk, and Thor. He also made Ultron, but I think it was the right choice for the MCU to skip straight to Scott Lang, the second Antman. He makes for a very unique and interesting character. Pym is fine and all, but I feel like he might have trouble standing out unless they jumped straight into his darker moments, which wouldn't make him very liked by general audiences.

2025-01-22 18:27:55 +0000 UTCIn the comics, the Pym particles were not (originally) explained to affect the distance between atoms. Instead, they shunt the target's mass to another dimension. So all of that mass is separate from, but still connected to, the target. As a result, Ant-Man really is as light-weight as he appears, but he can still use his full mass for punches and strength. Hank also developed a variant of his formula that doesn't retain the connection to the shunted mass, so the target doesn't keep their strength. He could use this to shrink his enemies for containment and such. It's all comic book nonsense, of course, but it's at least consistent in how it works. He's not heavy, but he's still strong.

2025-01-22 17:58:07 +0000 UTCMy two gripes about this movie when I saw it and felt validated when Matt Patt did a video on it. They are very inconsistent when his weight affects things. Hank stated when you shrink you don't get lighter, your mass remains the same. the only difference is the distance of the atoms. So sometimes he steps and falls and breaks something cause of his weight but other times he's light as a feather. I can mostly ignore that as the movie wants to have fun. My 2nd gripe is that shrinking to sub atomic should not be possible as your atoms can't shrink. It's such an oversite in the writing.

2025-01-22 17:42:55 +0000 UTCEdgar Wright was supposed to direct this one, but he was so frustrated with the lack of directorial voice and control that he quit (Marvel Movies are MARVEL movies, with heavy producer involvement to ensure a consistent brand product, and Edgar Wright is a great writer/director but has a very distinct personal style and voice). By all accounts, the only bit that survived in the final cut from his involvement is the "word of mouth" sequences with everyone lip-syncing to Luis' dialogue, which I thought was hilarious. This is my way of saying that I cannot recommend Hot Fuzz or Baby Driver ENOUGH for reactions.

Some people think you can do things like solve world hunger or have unlimited fuel or metal with it, but it doesn't work like that. If you enlarged an apple to the size of a car the entire thing would still have the nutrition value of a normal sized apple. You would just need to eat more of it. If something is shrunk then all the particles condense making it stronger. If you made a vest of shrunk down metal plates it could stop any bullet in the world. On the other hand if you enlarged the metal tenfold then you could probably cut it with a dull knife. I am super excited for the next video btw.

They were full on cannon with the movies for the first three or four season, but the head guys behind the movies saw TV as a waste of effort so they eventually carved their own path and did it well. They also took care to never actually break cannon, even if the movie guys didn't care.

Also I watch antman 3 high af, it was a wild ride.

So maybe that’s why from Civil War on I was engrossed in every detail. But for mine, that time from Civil War to Endgame is truly where the MCU became must see.

Scott is one of my top 3 MCU heroes (along with Sam Wilson and Dr. Strange) and I'm not sure if Edgar's version would have also been there. I am curious what that movie would have looked like, though.
