Doctor Strange

ICONIC

Comments

This one hits me in the same place that makes me want to be a physical therapist. I was rear-ended by someone doing 50mph when I was at a dead stop and hit my head on the back glass. It jumbled up my motor center Carlos Santana style about a month from signing to pitch for the Oakland Athletics. The rest of my body was mostly fine, but I forgot how to pitch and a lot of other right-handed motions that I had to re-learn.

Jane Doe

Alicia loving playing dr. Strange in rivals while also being a cancer patient is peak irony

Baron Salt

I'm so glad that I watched this movie in the cinema. The vast majority of big movies nowadays are shot in 3D just because it's expected of them now. The novelty has kinda worn off at this point and movies only rarely have scenes that make conscious use of 3D, so it doesn't really add much to the viewing experience anymore. Doctor Strange's mirror dimensions though... ooooh boy was that a treat to watch in 3D and I'm genuinely a bit sad that I'll probably never be able to have that experience again. The same goes for anything in the quantum realm. Also Wong (played by BD Wong :D ) is an absolute gem

Vokiman

The timeline doesn't line up for that since this movie takes place before civil war. I think they were referring to the hammer tech suit shown at the start of iron man 2.

Collateral Animation

I only just realised, that on the way to his speech, Strange is asked about his opinion on an air force colonel who broke his spine in experimental armor, they were talking about Rhodes. Damn that took some years

Mariusale

I'm so can't wait for you to watch WandaVision Alicia

Azmerath

The only reason it ever took multiple people to use the Power Stone was because of its nature AS the Power Stone - any lone normal mortal would be overloaded in an instant. The same doesn't hold true for the other Infinity Stones - command over, Time, Reality, and the Mind don't necessarily overload in the same way Power does, but each in their own way if used improperly. Time could shatter dimensions, Reality messed with Jane badly, Mind could make a devastating beam when Vision focuses. You'll see the others later on in their unique ways.

chronostorm

Doctor Strange is pretty good, but not the best imo

Gildarts1#fan

you saying "eating" made me think Pedro was like ACDC/esidisi from jojo LOL

Yagi di Hoshi

The mop falling scene wasn't scripted, they kept it in because it was funny.

Thomas Gabriel White

There is a 2007 animated Doctor Strange movie. It as only an hour long and a lot of stuff to squeeze in so it has a slight problem with pacing, but what makes the movie good is how they wrote the character development.

Thomas Gabriel White

I'm honestly happy you played Rivals and know some of the references. I've read the comics so when I see something similar in the movies I get excited for it. In a way you do the same more so than someone who doesn't know any of it.

YukoValis

Alicia with the "Ya better start believin' in Multiverses Mr. Strange. YOU'RE IN ONE!". That shit is funny AND true AF.

Demon Slayer

This is absolutely one of my favourites. I love Dr Strange, I like how different he is from the other heroes, I love his line about swearing a vow to do no harm as a doctor, it gives him a different perspective.

David Bodor

I agree. I guess some people might find it a bit cheesy, but I always found it iconic and colorful. I mean, I'll take "Crimson Bands of Cytorakk" and "Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth" over "Wingardium Leviosa" any day. Especially knowing the meaning behind the names like Cytoralk and the Vishanti.

BakaSama

Now that we got this oit of the way. I'm super excited as we have 5 straight BANGERS after. GotG Vol 2, Thor Ragnarok, Spiderman Homecoming, Black Panther, and Infinity War 😍 ohhh these next 5 weeks can't come soon enough.

Phantom Pledge

I really miss hearing more of stan lees iconic magic phrases he loved making for dr strange like the crimson rings of cyttorak or by the vishanti. Its like the only thing i dont really like about mcu dr strange is he doesn't really use verbal phrases with magic much if ever

Charlie baker

Fun fact - the moment where christine gets jump-scared by the broom is real. That was not scripted, the broom fell by accident

Benjamin Keppel

I think it's guardians 2 next.

sandbun

Alicia is ya love our man Mads please react to Hannibal

_Owwls_

Gosh those are some of my favorite MCU films, what a damn good year for the franchise.

Calixion Arts

Bringing this up again because the movies never explicitly explain it, not all Infinity Stones are the same. You can directly touch all but the power (purple) and reality (red, from the Thor movie) stones, and you can probably touch reality too if you're strong enough. The purple one just destroys you because it gives you all the 'power' of the living universe at once. The Time Stone doesn't have a powerful containment cuz you can't touch it, you could hold it just fine, same with something like the Tesseract or Visions Mind Stone.

Goobert

The reason the watches were rotating is to keep the automatically wound watches running. Wearing the watch naturally keeps it wound up. But he was so wealthy in order to keep all his watches wound he needed an automatic think to do so.

bismuthalienated

I would just like to emphasize how cool it is that Mordo wields the Staff of the Living Tribunal, because on the totem pole of the entire Marvel Multiverse, The Living Tribunal is like a top 3 most powerful character underneath The One Above All and The Beyonder. I feel like that little detail flew under the radar for a lot of people.

nelson pederson

Fun fact: this movie was supposed to be set in Tibet but got changed due to controversial issues with the Chinese government

James Fernandez

Oh! I just played Prey.

bismuthalienated

I'm very curious, how far are you planning to go with Marvel. Are you just going to watch the cinematic movies, or branch into connecting shows like Daredevil, and the Disney+ Series?

Mi6kbuttface

36:01 the subtitles 😭 “Ancient one slurps”

Emperor Moist

Fun fact the guy who is Wong is also a voice actor in games like Prey, he’s the older brother

Donald Armstrong IV

Not Alician being Rachelist against all the Rachels, they don't all look alike /s

Jobbe Smit

A note on something I think you and most other viewers (including myself) might've missed: Strange's watch didn't get broken in the attempted mugging that Mordo saved him from; rather, I believe it's probably the same watch he was wearing on the night of his car crash, thus it was probably already broken, which is why it's literally the only thing he has left (no one would be willing to buy it, even if he wanted to sell it, which he might not have due to the sentimental engraving from Christine on the back).

Serpentking789

177A Bleecker Street is the adress of the Sanctum Sanctorum because that's where Roy Thomas (who was writing Strange's stories at the time the adress was revealed) lived on that adress. So did Gary Friedrich (one of Ghost Rider's creators) and Bill Everett (creator of Daredevil and Namor the Sub-Mariner) too at times.

Bob

Man re watching it and just realised how bad they bad is the 2nd part of dr strange. man Mcu really went to shit after endgame

Sage of All knowing

Sometimes when you're fighting a really tough boss in a video game, and have to keep reloading your game, sometimes it feels like "Dormammu, I've come to bargain."

Timmetry

I've seen too many memes. The scene where he shows up and starts rewinding time and they're fighting while it's happening had Josuke's theme playing in my head.

Chanfyr

and the non MCU marvel too!

scatman's world

Do I think Doctor Strange is at the top of the list of Marvel movies? No. But I may be the one I have rewatched the most next to Captain America: The First Avenger and the next movie Alicia will see.

Robert Collard

Yeah, y’know what? YEAH! I like that ending quick talk about bias and how it’s okay for movies and actors. We don’t have a job to stay objective, FUCK IT! I think my favorite is still Spider-Man. Mainly because of the video games though 😂

Fobbles

this has probably already been said but if you keep watching past a certain point you really should watch the tv shows as well.

Alexander Johnson

Getting home from a hard day's work 40° weather covered in sweat jump into the pool to cool off time to crack a can eat some snacks and watch Alicia marvels life ain't so bad atm

Cameron Meow

Fun fact! The Rachel McAdams scene in the broom closet at 1:24:36 is a literal genuine reaction. the mop wasn't supposed to fall over, and Rachel just got spooked!

Logan Baxter

Yesssssss MORE MARVEL!!! Keep 'em comin' please 🙏

NerdyGothKitty

i dunno why they keep saying it was a mistake going into the mirror dimension to stop the attack in new york. Strange had to do SOMETHING to stop them from destroying it, literally anything they could do that would prevent it was their best option. its shown as a knee-jerk reaction from strange to stop the attack.

John

Alicia’s Marvel Ratings Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 9.5/10 Doctor Strange - 9.5/10 Captain America: Civil War - 9/10 Iron Man - 8/10 Avengers - 8/10 Captain America: The First Avenger - 8/10 Guardians of the Galaxy - 8/10 Avengers: Age of Ultron - 8/10 Antman - 8/10 Iron Man 2 - 7.5/10 Thor - 7/10 Thor: The Dark World- 6/10 Iron Man 3 - 5/10 Incredible Hulk - 4/10

Broford

Oddly enough I think one of my favorite lines comes from Mordo when the Ancient One stranded Strange in the mountains. Just that "Oh no, not again" is a brilliant line that tells a lot about these two characters and their history.

YukoValis

Hold on... 46:30 Where Wong is going through the books Strange is returning, one of them was Codex Imperium. Is that a 40K reference?

DrCatspaw

I tried Shrooms to watch this lol and my friend made a good joke about the Tea. “It’s just tea, with a little honey.” “Ah you heard her, it’s special HONEY.” Lol

Yaboi7117

How did I never realize Doctor Strange was just save scumming the entire time.

Ted

"You lack imagination" This was actually my first time seeing this movie since I watched in theatres so many years ago. It's WAY better than I remember! Admittedly, part of it is that I got motion sick from the action scenes in the theatre, which isn't a problem when I watch on a smaller screen. Love the reaction, keep up the great work Alicia! :)

Aqua Lantern

Web video cast. Has both iphone and android apps and works flawlessly for me! Should be by "InstantBits Inc"

Kame Zero

im pretty sure spider man and then black panther, then gotg V2, then ragnarok,

Jacob Vogelsang

so this isn't like youtube where extra spaces block text. If anything you made the spoiler more noticeable. Also it is incorrect.

YukoValis

I wonder how many people who were banned will start their ban lift request with "Dormammu! I've come to bargain!" after this video

Trevor Appel

I love Doctor Strange, he's awesome.

Kinji

Dormamu Iv'e come to bargain

Silver Raven

Yes, you are wrong. He is blinking. There's few scenes where his eyes are open longer than other scenes, but he still blinks even during those.

V_VMat

Doctor Strange is definitely one of my favorite stand alone MCU films and character introductions. And that "Dormammu, I have come to bargain" became such a big meme after the film release 🤣

V_VMat

that mop falling over at 1:24:24 was actually an accident but they loved her reaction they kept in the movie.

Michael Derryberry (Marusame)

It's meant to be gotg2, black widow (hopefully not), Spiderman, black panther, strange, then Thor rag Hopefully we skip black widow and Ant-Man 2 though 🙏

T

Thor rag next 😳

T

alright, she posted right when i had to go to work, always excited for her mcu reactions

Girthquake23

GotG 2 was in May, SM:H in July, T:R in November.

SweetCandle

I believe it's Guardian's volume 2 or Spiderman Homecoming it could also be Black Panther

Plasma

oh damn, i never saw the symbol on her forehead before 1:31

Lunafan1k

Nah, Doctor Strange has been written as living there since the 60s, one of the things that comes up when you search "Bleecker Street" is Bleecker Street Pizza that won "Best Pizza in New York" 3 years in a row. The accent that gets taught to UK actors as the most marketable is a fake neutral one, you might notice that Hugh Lauries in House had the exact same one, Alicia caught Benedict slipping, I've heard people say he seemed unexpressive compared to Sherlock and guess the accent took a lot of concentration because it was new for him

Verdigree

Steve Rogers: I can do this all day. Stephen Strange: Hold my beer.

SweetCandle

Everyone hype for wong 🤣😂

UndeadNovaKing 0

I couldn't remember the order and its crazy how I can be so bummed that thor isn't next but also so excited for the other 2 lol

Archie Curlz

I just thought it was a reference to Baker Street since Benedict Cumberbatch also played Sherlock Holmes.

Sasha

I'm excited to see Alicia's reaction to Guardians of The Galaxy vol. 2. Easily in my top 3 MCU Movies.

Vahn Vega

“By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth!” This is definitely one of my favorite Marvel Films, up there with Guardians, because I am a HUGE fan of Marvel’s Supernatural Characters. This movie is pretty faithful to the source material, so I’ll just go over some brief points of trivia. 1. In the comic the Ancient One was actually an old man, closely resembling the Movie’s Master Hamir. 2. Comic Book Baron Mordo was a Transylvanian Nobleman that was one of the Ancient One’s disciples, but turned his allegiance to Dormamu when it became apparent Stephen would become the next Sorcerer Supreme. 3. Dormamu is one of, if not the most prominent of Dr. Strange’s arch enemies. He has a more human form, but the more of the Dark Dimension he controls, the more demonic his form becomes. Particularly the flames around his head. He has also come into conflict with other Heroes like Thor when he allied with Loki. 4. The Eye of Agomotto in the comics is not an Infinity Stone (or Gem as they’re called in the comics). It is just an incredibly powerful and ancient magical artifact. 5. The Cloak of Levitation in the comics is known as the Cloak of the Vishanti and is not sentient. It’s just another of the Ancient Mystic Relics passed among the Sorcerer Supremes. 6. The OG Dr. Strange comic art was very psychedelic and the movie did an excellent job paying homage to that. Especially with its depiction of the multiverse and the Dark Dimension.

BakaSama

The order is Guardians first, Spider-man and then Thor

Gustavo Dantas

I really hope she watches Loki when she gets that far into the movies

KushWookieee

No, chronologically, I believe this film actually takes place before Winter Soldier, hence why Strange is on the list of targets Hydra wants to take out.

BirthdayParty

Regarding Dr. Strange not taking a surgery because it would ruin his "perfect record". That is unfortunately the state of healthcare in the US (at least in the US). Passing on risky surgeries is pretty common. To do otherwise is to risk their career.

Aerowind

Think it should be Guardians 2. Either that, Ragnarök or Spider-man, I can't remember what order just that all 3 came out in 2017.

Mithrell

One Pieces mirrors and Sonics rings. Too crazy 2b coincidence heh

Ray_Ra_Ray

Anyone know what the next movie is???

Wesley

Correct me if I'm wrong, but does Mads'es character did not blinked once while talking to Strange in scene from 1:13:25?

TwojaStaraIFrytki .

I think that was about Rhodey, actually

Bologna Amputation

.... I never read that comic...but I can't help imagine Stephen coming over to a bake sale with magical brownies (only thing magical is the preservation, to keep them like freshly baked at all times) XD

FlaschenJoe11

Happy you loved the movie, was pretty much one of the three marvel movies I was most excited for you to reach and react to, the other ones were guardians (cause rocket exists) and eventually Spider-Man once you're there :)

TheGodofCruelty

This movie's effects are so good! Not just how trippy they are, but the way it's coreographed makes my brain happy. Imagine coreographing a fight inside a space where reality and physics are bending and twisting like you're filtering space through the lens of a kaleidoscope. It's so cool!

Yurei Okami

Probably not the best place to ask. But is there a way to cast streamable videos onto a Chromecast or smart tv?

2lazy2username

Bleeker Street is a real street in New York, it's in Manhattan, around famous Greenwich Villiage nightclubs. I read a comic about Doctor Strange dealing with gentrification over the decades and how he's actually a great neighbor to the people living there

Verdigree

I prefer the Road to Civil War that used a lot of footage from Marvel TV (at the time) as well.

hemahemahema

To Mods, pateron and discord (I don't have access to discord or didn't receive it and I'm stupid lol) BUT TO ALL ALICA REACTION FANS!!! Please like and share and spread a Marvel suggestion that I think would be amazing for her and the channel just before we do infinity war. MCU - Supercut "Road to infinity war" by MCUExchange. https://youtu.be/RbK1e94p8v0?si=XfXkCcoLSiEJ08HP I know i might be coming too hard on this and can be seen annoying but I wanted to share and ask cuz as a marvel and reactionist fan I too watched this before big screen of infinity war at first night. It's a beautiful edit and amazing recap and told very well and I think executes well on emotional attachments to the film and characters before seeing a great anchor point in the franchise that a decade was built up for. Watch it for yourself if you have no idea what I'm talking about. But please I hope she would notice and see the beautiful adventure so far of what she comes across. Please like, share, comment, copy and paste if need be. I usually don't come at recommendations strong but I feel like this is too good to pass up for her and the channel. I plan to re ask on every marvel movie till then and we only got 3 more I believe so I can't wait. Please and thank you all <3

Hexx Gear

Should've known you'd love this film with your film background and all

mykanike

12:03 Fun fact there is an Iron Man 2 reference. You know the guy who was in the suit made by the bad guy's company and then it turned around 180 and broke his spine yet he somehow survived

Jaffar Black Fang

Denji's perpetual motion machine lives on in Steven Strange. Gotta love that confrontation with Dormamu

Calixion Arts

This is one of the things I love about your reactions: Not only do your bring your background and the insight that brings, but you allow yourself to just be taken in by a film, experiencing the story and world rather than being just so irony-poisoned, like many.

Bologna Amputation

Would love to watch a Sherlock reaction

Bera

Alicia, you missed the warning at the end of the movie by skipping the credits. It says "Don't text and drive."

Oouga

Actually, I think it was the Hammer armor test

Patrick Anderson

As soon as I saw this film, Strange instantly shot to number one in my list of MCU heroes and he's stayed there all the way until recent events caused him to take a dip and Sam to rise in his place. So currently, my top 3 are Sam, Strange, and Scott. But seeing this movie again, just reminds me why Strange is so good. I hope he recovers from the hit (being vague to avoid spoilers and stuff. I'm just not a fan of a movie he was in).

CrimsonWarrior55

almost at ragnarok

Gustaf Hillertz

Marvel rivals came out at such a perfect time for you since your able to see a ton of heros and moves and with where your at in the movies you get to learn a bit of what the characters are like lol. Doctor strange is and Ant man are probably my favorite movies of the MCU

Brutebandit

Not super important but the watches on the rotating displays weren't rotating for show. A lot of high end watches like those have pendulums in them for self winding the spring from the movement o walking while wearing them. Storing them on rockers like that keeps them wound so you can switch which one you are wearing without having to reset the time on them every couple days.

Jerramy Scoggin

¬THIS

YeCrustModifier

This movie is so visually stunning and trippy. I’m glad you enjoyed it. This is one of the very mcu movies I never watched in theaters. I watched it for the first time at a youth church activity

Andrew birds

And that's that mordo will never return or will he? He is actually a villain in the marvel comics so I saw it coming a mile away

Snowbuns

I can delete it, but she'll have to go through all the Marvel movies currently out before finding out that he never shows up again...

Chronos Hoffman

I hate they took away his comic lore, after losing his little sister during a surgery he was in charge of, he spiralled into depression and got into a drunk accident

Ignis Flame

Fun fact behind the scenes no car manufacturer wanted to be the car Strange crashed in because it looks bad for their brand in their eyes. Lamborghini however though it was amazing publicity because Strange crashes due to negligence on his part and despite the crash being HORRIFIC he survived, showing how safe the car is. They even gave the studio 2 cars to crash. just in case

Cole Savoie

i very much wish theyd given him more actual spells instead of just gestures generally, sorta sad he doesnt have the really cool spell phrases stan lee loved coming up with like rings of ragadoor or by the vishanti or the crimson bands of cyttorak.

Charlie baker

next is gonna be guardians 2, get ready for the tears boys

Ignis Flame

omg how did i forgot abt guardians 2 that movie destroyed me

slavicandsapphic

I think you might want to delete this; it's pretty much true, it's about what DOESN'T happen, but it's still about something in the future for Alicia.

Carus Lumen

If acid does any of the things you saw on screen you may have been given research chemicals. from a person who does a loooot of psychedelics.

Mechamage

No problem, I honestly just found that myself after a little googling. I had never even considered that it might be Rhodey, I always thought it might be the guy from Iron Man 2.

Hugh Mungus

Chronos Hoffman

I was thinking the dude who tried the suit in ironman 1.. or 2 that got his spin snapped, but I guess they wouldn't of said "crushed"

Easy Mode - A.I

Fun fact! Doctor strange has been at 177A bleecker street for decades. It just happened to line up that Sherlock and dr strange were played by the same actor. It was actually given that address because it was an address one of the old comic writers used to live in before the real life building was changed to simply 177 bleecker street

Andrew birds

Rhodes isn't 35 in Civil War, he's 48

iAmPimmiCue

1:24:18 Fun fact: That was not planed to happen. 😆

RedRam-Ipsen

And apparently that "Dormammu, I've come to bargain." moment went on for 3000 years. So, Strange spent all that time in the Dark Dimension, getting beaten, and learning more and more how to use his magic.

Dyno

I heard the falling broom and the scream where not an act. She really got scared xD

MoD+

A Cow

I'm not sure if anyone else said this, but when he was on the call in the car and "Billy" mentioned different procedures he could do. He brought up a "35 year old Colonel who's spine got crushed in an experimental armor" he's talking about Rhodey(War Machine) from when he fell out of the sky in Civil War

Mass Carnage

I don't think you're too biased, this is definitely one of the best marvel movies.

RussellSD

Yeah, a lot of people think it's Rhodey but the key detail is the guy being 35. Rhodes is in his late 40s by the time Civil War occurs.

Chimpman

No, it wasn't. This movie is set before Civil War.

Chimpman

Since some people haven't told you, it's actually an Easter egg reference to the guy who got his back twisted in the Hammer Industries suit in Iron Man 2.

Chimpman

It's a reference to the soldier from Iron Man 2 that gets his back twisted in the Hammer Industries suit. This movie is set before Civil War on the timeline.

Chimpman

The mop closet scene very much was genuine. The mop wasn't meant top fall and it happened to fall and actually startle her.

Random3x

12:08, the spinal injury Billy (on the phone) is referring to Rode's broken back from Civil War. (Pardon, I was told this was Rodes, but I've been corrected.) 1:24:30 The scream is genuine because the mop fell over on its own. Her reaction felt so good for the moment, they used that take.

KatoBen

I'm glad you related so much to this movie and Doctor Strange. I agree with your take on biases. I'm super biased myself towards Captain America because I grew up in a really patriotic family and environment. Cap has become to me the ideal of what America SHOULD be and what I wish it was right now. I won't get too political but obviously it's scary right now so it's nice to look at that character and see values that everyone should strive for.

Chimpman

Oh my god i am dumb, i always thought it was rhodey

Craig

i'm pretty sure most/all of them are very bad news for some regular person going palm-to-stone, at least when you're attempting to use it, like red skull at the end of cap 1, it's because the necklace was made by agamotto (the first sorcerer and probably stupid powerful) that it can be safely stored/worn, and strange needs to do specific rituals to use it's power. TLDR, he would have blown up too if he just walked in there day 1, stuck a finger in there and tried to stop time

Jadedjayde

It's not a reference to Rhodey, it's a reference to the soldier that gets his back twisted in Iron Man 2 in the Hammer Industries suit.

Chimpman

i cant wait for her to get to black panther, shes gonna love it

Maxxy

Oh I love this one! The visuals were so trippy and I loved the plot. Saw the animated movie of Doctor Strange way back in the day, this one definitely lived up to that

Joey245

Honestly, just post-endgame. Plenty of good movies since then but significantly less of them by comparison to the sheer volume of stuff the MCU has made since then.

Cogfather

Needed this so much today! My one cat is very sick, he refuses to eat much at all. His siter likes to finish his food, so is very fat. Now I've got to put them both on special diets. Plus work, plus, bills, plus life = depression. So, I needed a spark of Alicia in my life! Thank you so much.

Oouga

the only MCU movie i didnt manage to catch in cinemas, which is a shame cos some of these scenes would have been insane to see on the big screen

KuroOberon

From what i heard the mop was not supposed to fall so yes that reaction was genuine

Adam Anneling

BY THE EYE OF AGAMOTTO

UndeaditeJesse

There actually exists a Mads Mikkelsen good guy role, Tristan from King Arthur (2004)

Bloodhawk Fifty-six

@Hugh Mungus Ok thanks! Interesting, so it seems it was something that they were thinking about it, didn't match the timeline, but was left in it anyway.

leviathan_13

'Director Scott Derrickson spoke to Digital Spy and set us right on just when the events of Doctor Strange occur. "That's not War Machine, actually," he said. "It sounds like it. And maybe in some other iteration we were even thinking it could be. The movie led up to present day. "There's not that much of a time gap." Derrickson said that the events of the film happen over the space of about a year but not, it turns out, a year set after Civil War. Which is a relief, because we were really struggling to get that idea sorted out in our heads.'

Hugh Mungus

I've been waiting for this. So glad you loved it like I did.

Teemu Määttä

That does make sense

Noel

I really like this movie...and I'll just say I wish they had made better use of Strange and his setting and leave it there for now. Benedict Cumberbatch is a pitch perfect strange, and Chiwetel Ejiofor is ALWAYS a treat, so I would love to see more of him growing into something a bit more like Strange's Arch-Nemesis Baron Mordo.

Linnaeus

WONG!!!!

PotterBrony

@iAmPimmiCue how can you tell? They talk about an air force colonel who got his lower spine crashed in an experimental armor. I also just checked the timeline and both movies should be set in 2016, so it seems fitting.

leviathan_13

I like this movie and Doctor Strange as a character. And i think with every rewatch i like it a little bit more. Good reaction.

Sabo

It's not Rhodey

iAmPimmiCue

12:05 I think they are talking about Rhodey who got injured in Civil War... nice easter egg (edit: correction, it is a reference to a test pilot in Iron Man 2). Also, I might be wrong, but I think only the power stone from GotG is so powerful (fitting) that you would die if you grabbed it directly. That does not necessarily apply to the other stones.

leviathan_13

It’s actually really cool to watch someone react to Marvel movies that knows Marvel Rivals first.

nervouspirate

Yes, you can find it on YouTube. Just look up Doctor Strange animated movie

Moviejunkie

Remember when they were interrogating Jasper Sitwell on the roof in Cap 2: Winter Soldier? He mentions 'Stephen Strange' as one of the people Hydra was monitoring. I believe this movie takes place before Winter Soldier chronologically, and we don't really know how long Stephen was at Kamar-taj, so his accident could have been during the events of Iron Man 2 for all we know. (Also possible they flubbed the age or something and it is after civil war. Wheeee)

BOOMDEADA

It can't be the guy from Iron Man 2, that was way too long ago to be only just now brought in for surgery

Flastyy

The mop falling is still my favourite scene.

Jammy Thing

I'm pretty sure it was intended to be Rhodey, they even specify an "experimental armor", some details can be off between movies in the MCU sometimes because of how many different directors are brought in

Flastyy

That was part of the reason, but there were multiple reasons. First they didn't want another cliche of the "old wise man" teaching Strange. Second is that Swinton just knocked the role out of the park during casting.

YukoValis

The rotating watch thing is to keep them wound so they keep ticking.

Random3x

very much like Tony in some aspects, but even his ''rock'' (christine) did little to curb is worst aspects, unlike pepper

Ozone279

also in 007: casino royale with Daniel Craig, him as La Chiffre

Ozone279

Close. The one with the spine injury is the test subject from Iron Man 2. When Hammer Inc had a guy try a mech suit and it twisted him around. Hammer said "for the record that guy survived"

YukoValis

post-endgame? yeah, last i saw was.....no way home...i think, i'm way behind

Ozone279

Something I love is how good the fight scenes are in this one and I think the most obvious reason why is the editing and camera work. The opening fight took its time with each scene, cutting between close ups to show the precise actions and far away shots to show off the full fight, with minimal shaky cam. Its day and night compared to the bar fight in Iron Man 3.

N00B

So as shown here, the Infinity Stones each control a different aspect. The guardians of the galaxy one controls lets say power. So you can hold the time stone and the mind stone just fine. The one from Guardians not so much.

YukoValis

It wasn't War Machine, Rhodey was 48 in Civil War, not 35

iAmPimmiCue

I think it's just because it was the Power stone that it killed most who held it. I don't think it;'s like that for the others

iAmPimmiCue

This. It's gross to see it done so casually.

Billy Green

i dont think she reads these but the 35 yr old airforce colonol with the spine injury was war machine she didnt catch that at the begininng

Malik myers

I love Deadpool, but I worry how Alicia will handle a certain plot point.

NERD!

Phase 3 Sweep

Ranginald Vagel

Oh, to clarify, I really like Endgame as well.

Michael

It's okay to keep referring to Marvel Rivals. Stuff like games helps getting people into learning about the universe.

LeRezwarrior

Agreed to both

Billy Green

I am not good with words, just know that everything I am saying is meant with the best intentions Hearing Alicia talk about her cancer makes me sad for her. I wish beyond all wishes that your dream can come true I want you to beat Cancer. I want you to get married. And I want you to have children. You deserve to have all of these things

Belrevan

the scream when the broom dropped was actually genuine because it wasnt suppose to drop and it caught her by surprise

DankusMemes

So there is a controversy with this movie, and it's the fact that in the comics, the ancient one is supposed to be a Tibetan man, and Strange is supposed to train in Tibet, but because Disney is more than willing to appease Chinese censorship because China seeks to eradicate Tibetan culture they made these changes. I love this movie, but it's a good thing if you just know this.

Alexander Saldivar

i forgot that staff was called the living tribunal that is crazy work

downright darius

At 1:24:21 the scream was genuine the mop wasn't meant to fall and she was really startled by it.

Jesse Gilmore

My favourite part is the mop scene. Another accidental golden scene 🤣

Patrik Mrtvý

I think your knowledge of Marvel Rivals will actually help Alicia. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but for a lot of the characters in the game that are also in the MCU I’m pretty sure the gameplay of those characters is more or less copied from the MCU.

ichigo

You mean Endgame? My main gripe with Endgame is that *MASSSIVE FUCKING SPOILERS(DO NOT READ IF NOT SEEN ENDGAME)* the shield doesn't get passed to Bucky. It goes to the other guy who was fun, but I feel had no business inheriting the shield. While in the comics, the shield went to Buck.

Michael

Watching all these while recovering from surgery has been the best comfort. Love it Alicia! Dr Strange is so good!

Pablonius

I feel like the latest Avengers movie puts a nice cap on most everyone's stories and is a satisfying place to stop. There are good movies after that point but I find my investment drops way down.

Ideal Optimist

FINALLY!!! THE RISE OF MY STRANGE BOY WHO CAN NEVER CATCH A WIN ON HIS OWN. 😭 Unrelated; but when do the Marvel movies start going downhill for you guys?

Michael

Really, is it called Dr. Strange as well, let me know I wanna see that

DarkTitan5010

Cape is a good boy

Faroth

Im sad they never make the joke of 'no shit, sherlock' between strange and ironman, they even have watson in the mcu

Faroth

Well, this is strange and unexpected :v

Faroth

Holmes's address is 221b Baker Street, and yes the address to the New York Sanctum is a reference to it (vaguely), but it's also from the comics

largo778 .

bro I'm rewatching marvel through your journey and i just now noticed that the cape was removing Stranges tear at 1:40:30, all this time I've always thought that It was just annoying him

Royce

We still have Gaurdians 2 and Homecoming then those two with Ragnarok first.

Gekido

Thats right after this one I believe, they did come out the same year.

Gekido

WONG! Best character!

M

I thought the next one on the list was guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2?

Alexander deLongchamps

THE MAJIC IS IN THE HOUSE!!

SolidFiction

LETS FUCKING GO—this means Black Panther or Ragnarok up next and oh boy do they blow the MCU standards out of the park. Also while I dont appreciate the making the Ancient One a white woman, her actress did such a wonderful job showing that wisdom and guidance Strange needed.

slavicandsapphic

Time to get Strange!

Rasmus Helm

Mads Mikkelsen cemented himself as one of my favorites as well after his performance in the Hannibal series.

Brandon Tondreau

You missed a reference to Rhodey (iron man's friend) near the start when strange was being potential patients

Craig

Deadpool next?

MisterMarch

Heck yeah! Finally, my favourite Marvel movie!

Blackbaldrik

I've been waiting for this one like crazy! The villains are unusual in it, one being a 'guy just like the hero' per the norm, and one being god-like, It's so... strange haaaaaaaaaa. The good doctor is so cool, though.

SlimeKingK

Alicia I have come to bargain! 🤣

Calvin

When I was first going to theaters I wasn’t expecting much but this movie is in my top 5 marvel movies

Big Fuze

Dr. Strange is a dickhead, but he's a good dickhead. His ego was too big. His accident was a bit extreme but was something he needed to become the hero he would become

largo778 .

A lot of people hated on this movie, this and Love and Thunder, but I still think it’s good, not the best, but definitely not worth the hate it’s gotten

Ben Gross

Alicia letting us eat really good with movies lately. Sonic series was so fun to watch with her

Nick Parsons

Today is my 30th birthday and I get to watch doctor strange why'll at work 🤣😂

UndeadNovaKing 0

and the mordo ''beyonce'' joke

word

Cat on Crack

I have a funny story with this movie. So me and a group of friends drop LSD and about 3 hours in someone suggests this movie and they put it on. I thought my reality was breaking, I was not ok and I have never seen this movie since.

JD

omg, when you saw Mads, and said "god is good", I immediately thought of the Alucard/Taka line of "is it racist if I think it sounds better in Arabic?" line from HUA

Crescent Method

Ever since I found out Marvel Mondays are a thing, every Monday has been a wait for the next peak marvel movie from the peak reactor

Omer Durrani

The two types of villans: Bald or Mads Mikkelsen

ShreddedNinja

Oh baby i've never clicked this fast - i saw this for the first time on shrooms it was a trip LOL

Bboyblock .

I really did need to give this one a rewatch. After something as genre defining as Captain America: Civil War I remember being underwhelmed by this one. And in hindsight that's not fair to Dr. Strange.

Lee Aguera

BY THE EYE OF AGAMOTYO🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥

Jackal Sniper

Yeeees!

JustRiver0o

Honestly my favorite part of the movie is probably the WiFi joke

C Tuley

Alicia, you can't do this to me. I was gonna go sleep.

MarakamiSG

You’re not gonna believe this, but there’s an animated Doctor Strange movie that’s better than this. Better character development and use of magic.

Moviejunkie

The movie that makes me proud to be a Dr. Strange Main in rivals. BY THE EYE OF AGAMOTTO

Ockto

Oh shiiiiit lets go
