The reason he isn't blowing people into red mist every time he throws a punch is cuz he doesn't want to. If he stopped holding back entirely, it'd be like watching Omni-Man. Oliver is not even close to the speed or strength of invincible. He's just a kid who isn't holding back cuz he's a kid and doesn't understand why he should.

This is because lightning is pinpoint and there is a lot of area to cover. But that means it is still possible, and that is not even going into lightning rods that can channels strikes to a specific location.

The diference is that Mark actually holds up a lot to don't really hurt anyone, Oliver doesn't. Just remember her fight in Thraxa, he was fighting full grown viltrumite soldiers and was beating the shit out of the grey hair lady cause he stoped holding back

His instinct is a combination of the Thraxans' (A life is best spent in service of others, or not at all) and the Viltrumites' (A mortal stranger's life barely matters, if at all). Showing how them being so soft on him and acting the way they do wasnt the right approach. Cecil tried to compromise with Debbie the same way she tried to with Oliver is just such good writing it really brings out Marks flaws into light

I mean, look at what he did to the Reanimen when he didn’t care about breaking them. Those Reanimen weren’t pushovers. Mark would never attack the Maulers, or anyone alive with that level of force.

Idk if they'll circle back to it but in the comic, when Oliver asks Mark if he ever thought Nolan was right, Mark's response is "Sometimes." I just find that answer very impactful for what's to come down the road.

All gung-ho about how the psychologically compromised Darkwing 2 needs to be in prison forever for killing criminals the way he did, but not so much as considering getting a psychiatrist for his murderous little brother who admitted to valuing normal people less.
