One Piece takes that to the extremes, by doing exactly what you described, putting the characters in situations where they seem smaller. But Oda and Toei do alter character sizes constantly as well to amplify the visual tricks, like Guard Point size being all over the place. Both are done completely intentionally, the putting large things next to other large things to make them smaller and actually drawing them smaller. Chopper seeming small is done to make whatever he is against look stronger, because we remember how threatening that form has been. Whether it's effective or if it's over done to the point where it's making the form look weak is a different topic.

Like... what other girl is gonna like Sanji the way she does? he spends his time freakin out and idealizing every single pretty girl he sees.... Pudding is the only Girl who Sanji has seen both her good side as well as her worst side (Nami and Robin don't count cuz it's obvious there's never gonna be romance between the StrawHats), and he still accepts her as she is. And she's literally a good cook as well.... what else could you ask? Not even Viola had cooking going for her. I mean.... sure, she hurted his feeling A LOT before the Wedding.... and she does need to properly apologize to him eventually....... But after that point i really don't see a reason why they can't be a couple, Im pretty sure Sanji won't mind at all. That's my opinion at least. And just in case..... im just speaking of what could theorically happen with the Characters after the Manga/Anime is already over..... cuz i also think it's pretty obvious that we're not gonna see any of the StrawHats getting into actual romantic relationships before the end of the story.

Yes he looks small and weak when hes next to Big Mom! like shes not CP9 shes a emperor of the sea. might be slightly less scary but it looks worse becuse of how much stronger and bigger the fights have become.

Sanji doesn't need a nice, stable girl, he needs a chick that will stab him if he tries to flirt with other women while he's in a relationship to keep him in check. Besides, this is the only time Oda wrote a Straw Hat focused romance and he wrote it really well, if these two don't end up together by the end of the series that will be a major miss

Yes, Oda can be inconsistent with certain things but he has always had a massive scale of size for things. Just because you don't like that doesn't make it untrue. One Piece and it's world does not make very much sense as a whole. Stop trying to apply real world logic to it. Elbaf Giants are so big, they could punt kick most any Titan other than Eren.

The Colossal towered over an entire city and wall Maria, there is physically no chance the Sunny is that big, it would be larger than an entire town, especially because we've seen the crew walk up next to the ship in comparison. Like i said, the written sizes are inconsistent with their visuals and make very little sense

Oven saying "if you have a mirror you dont want to break, sink it into the ocean" shows this. Could you imagine like, crocodile or doffy saying the same thing to their people? Its small bits of humanity that make villains more interesting.

But my thinking when I saw someone originally bring the size up. Was that pre-timeskip monster point was completely out of control, thus the seize was the absolute max Chopper's body could go without being town apart; which is why he was so injured and not just exhausted. And now post-timeskip, it's smaller cause it's not just uncontrolled expansion of his body.

2025-02-13 19:12:41 +0000 UTCTheres some really weird and nonsensical info regarding Sunny out there that never made any sense to me, its definitely not that big, but i don't think Oda really took into consideration just how big something like the Colossal is when he wrote out the specs for the Sunny. Like we've seen the Colossal compared to nearly-modern era battleships in AoT, the Sunny is absolutely not that large lol I think in general Oda is just not good at size perpectives because they're very inconsistent and the actual written sizes make very little to no sense

That was around the time they made monster point look "weaker". So my fan theory and current head cannon is that it looks weaker because its less wilder since he has his mind. Thus Chopper being our little good boy doesn't go all out. Do no harm and all, the doctor's code. So I bet you, if he REALLY went all out, he could go wild. IDK. just my fan thoughts on the matter.

2025-02-13 10:39:56 +0000 UTCI think Monster Point SEEMS smaller, but really it isn't if you think about it... it's just that it's easy to forget that Sunny is enormous, so in perspective it doesn't feel as big (plus perspectives in general are often messed up in One Piece). But even here, for example, you can tell that Nami is about as tall as Chopper's mug, which is the same as it was in Enies Lobby during the Kalifa fight.

2025-02-13 09:18:17 +0000 UTCI agree, I think monster point should be larger, but I also get why he is smaller. That's how Oda and Toei keep the visual themes in check. They always make things that are a threat bigger, but when things are more in control they are portrayed as smaller. Geart 3 is a great example of that. The longer the show goes on since it's reveal, it's power doesn't seem to go down, but it's size compared to other things does. Luffy needs to feel like an underdog and visually making him smaller helps. Lowering the bar also helps add sense of strength to things stronger than Gear 3, 'Mingo fight finisher "King Kong Gun" as an example. Same with Chopper. Monster point is strong, but Big Mom is stronger. If Chopper felt massive, it would put Big Mom in the underdog position visually. But originally, Monster point was a threat to the crew, not on their side. Same happened with Guard Point, it was MASSIVE when it was first shown post time skip, but it was tiny when Big Mom just grabbed it. Size in One Piece is for visual themes. But I do miss scary and massive Chopper :(
