I think the wait may be to make sure its genuine, rather than perhaps confusing lust with love? On top of that, saying it quickly puts pressure on the other person to respond, which may make their response disingenuous if they are still figuring it out themselves Also because there can be the feeling that the more someone says something, the more likely it is to be shallow in meaning or lip service.

Not gonna lie, when those credits rolled the first time, I was pretty "Meh" about this episode- not bad, but pretty much just filler- but then Alicia scrolled over the time bar to show how far in we actually were, and it was like the final boss just came back with a second health bar.
