So people tend to ask why doesn't pennywise just kill the kids? The answer is twofold. The first is that pennywise feeds on fear far more than just bodies. As you can see the dead bodies in the sewer that weren't consumed. Sure he will eat and kill if someone gets in his way or if it promotes a greater fear response. The second reason is the god turtle protecting the kids. That is more of a book thing though.

Doesn't surprise me. Bigots will deny their shit even as they are doing it.
Just go look over at them celebrating all the bigotry that comes out of Musk and Trump. It's all about normalizing it with them.

You guys need to watch the original IT miniseries from 1990; it stars Tim Curry and while it's nowhere near as scary or polished as this one, it's still a blast.

Yeah, there's a theory that the orgy is part of the reason that the one guy in the beginning commits suicide. He was traumatized by it and really didn't want to see the girl again.

When this came out, a lot of people scoffed at the hate crime bit at the start, saying it was cartoonish and over-the-top. As someone who has lived in a small town all his life, they really, really nailed what small town bullies are, and how they comport themselves.

It feels like they rushed to finish production after the stuff about finding tokens. Too much focus was put on the stuff between Bill and Bev, not enough on the cool stuff about Pennywise other than the power of belief.

Yeah. King is pretty messed up. Critics at the time had some weird takes about it. One said that the scene “the heart of the book” and the scene where an 11 year old girl has sex with 6 boys by the sewer was a way to tell kids that “sex, even unplanned sex, even sex that’s weird, even sex where a girl loses her virginity in the sewer, can be powerful and beautiful”.
Turns out the scene was going to be included in the first movie originally, since the screen writer thought it was an important part because “it was the one thing Beverly could give the boys”. Thankfully the director said hell no.

Thank God they didn't include or hint at the original last group up of The Losers Club before the time skip. When they open with the kids hanging out near the canal, I was honestly worried they'd hint that the kids "strengthened their bond" with the gangbang that Stephen King wrote in the book.

I think they could've completely cut out the scene of the girl dying under the bleachers. It added nothing to the movie.

I work in a blood bank, Alicia is very right about the process of getting blood taking a while, It takes a lot of testing before you get blood. Getting the wrong type of blood can kill you, even in a hospital, and there are delayed reactions we test for that can range from making the blood transfusion useless, to causing active harm 2 weeks later. Hospitals usually have a process for getting someone blood if they REALLY need it without that testing, but a doc has to sign a paper saying it's medically necessary, it can be dangerous.

So, something that they sort of hint at in these movies but the books make more explicit is just how insidious and pervasive ITs influence is on Derry. The way the adults just look the other way, but also the amped up violence, the hatred and bigotry. They sort of gloss over the fire at the black spot (a club started by a group of black soldiers that turned into a mixed race night club) but in the book they go into detail of how it Derry was a sundown town despite being up in Maine and a stronghold for racist groups, and of course we have the opening incident of the second movie (which takes place in the 80s in the book). And more besides. Derry's history is chock full of spree killers and random outbreaks of mass violence all the way back to before it was founded.

This is very different in the book and not just the ending. For example, in the book, Bill's wife thinks he is cheating on her (which he does do as he and Bev sleep together) and she follows him to Derry as does Bev's husband. Bev's husband dies and Bill's wife gets captured by IT and loses her mind. The end is Bill restoring her mind. Honestly I don't mind most of the changes, the only one I don't like is in the book after they kill It, which turns out to be female and pregnant, the whole town is destroyed. Where as here it is just the house. And in the book they all forgot again but I'm glad they changed that.

So weird enough the book started here with the couple being attacked and the guy thrown over. In fact a section of the book talked about the whole trial process and who to blame for the disappearance. The book is weird.. It actually had a few chapters from IT's perspective where he talks about a turtle god.
