IT Chapter 2

THIS IS LONG

IT Chapter 2

Comments

So people tend to ask why doesn't pennywise just kill the kids? The answer is twofold. The first is that pennywise feeds on fear far more than just bodies. As you can see the dead bodies in the sewer that weren't consumed. Sure he will eat and kill if someone gets in his way or if it promotes a greater fear response. The second reason is the god turtle protecting the kids. That is more of a book thing though.

I know this a spooky movie but this a spooky movie in Merica how do you not walking in there unarmed Edit: please donate blood all types are great but if you have a uncommen or rare blood type it's your responsibility to donate i found out i have A- and its always needed so I go after work on a Friday before I see the boys it dosnt take long and you will feel better about yourself

Cameron Meow

It's based on an actual hate-crime if I remember correctly.

The Lazy Gamer

Doesn't surprise me. Bigots will deny their shit even as they are doing it. Just go look over at them celebrating all the bigotry that comes out of Musk and Trump. It's all about normalizing it with them.

Silver Tongue

You guys need to watch the original IT miniseries from 1990; it stars Tim Curry and while it's nowhere near as scary or polished as this one, it's still a blast.

Sleepy Hydra

Yeah, there's a theory that the orgy is part of the reason that the one guy in the beginning commits suicide. He was traumatized by it and really didn't want to see the girl again.

Ivan Redman Jr.

When this came out, a lot of people scoffed at the hate crime bit at the start, saying it was cartoonish and over-the-top. As someone who has lived in a small town all his life, they really, really nailed what small town bullies are, and how they comport themselves.

Bologna Amputation

It feels like they rushed to finish production after the stuff about finding tokens. Too much focus was put on the stuff between Bill and Bev, not enough on the cool stuff about Pennywise other than the power of belief.

Kap

Tim Curry makes the original worth watching.

Kap

Yeah. King is pretty messed up. Critics at the time had some weird takes about it. One said that the scene “the heart of the book” and the scene where an 11 year old girl has sex with 6 boys by the sewer was a way to tell kids that “sex, even unplanned sex, even sex that’s weird, even sex where a girl loses her virginity in the sewer, can be powerful and beautiful”. Turns out the scene was going to be included in the first movie originally, since the screen writer thought it was an important part because “it was the one thing Beverly could give the boys”. Thankfully the director said hell no.

Kap

there's a wHAT?

NickAsNickName

Thank God they didn't include or hint at the original last group up of The Losers Club before the time skip. When they open with the kids hanging out near the canal, I was honestly worried they'd hint that the kids "strengthened their bond" with the gangbang that Stephen King wrote in the book.

Kap

I cried so hard for Richie :((

Link

Oh ya more horror

musky and moist Mike

I hope they watch the original miniseries at some point.

TheRuralArtist

I think they could've completely cut out the scene of the girl dying under the bleachers. It added nothing to the movie.

Nicholas Johnson

As a gay man if I was in the US I'd be packing everywhere! bullies are leaving with holes minimum prefablely without kneecaps

Cameron Meow

The real author of so many steven king books, cocaine.

Shadowsofpain

i know he was gunna like die young ...but i do miss stephen king when he would do an 8 ball and make 3 books

Lance Ivy

Ah the insurance risk assessor gets into an auto accident. lol

YukoValis

I work in a blood bank, Alicia is very right about the process of getting blood taking a while, It takes a lot of testing before you get blood. Getting the wrong type of blood can kill you, even in a hospital, and there are delayed reactions we test for that can range from making the blood transfusion useless, to causing active harm 2 weeks later. Hospitals usually have a process for getting someone blood if they REALLY need it without that testing, but a doc has to sign a paper saying it's medically necessary, it can be dangerous.

Reina

coma either got a bedder camera is putting in work cause he is looking healthy

Lance Ivy

does anyone else have a hard time watching while the camera keeps autofocusing, like zooming in and out.

PostageBread

Yeah it is a bit of a slog but even the vhs cover was enough to scare me now I go back just for tim curry's performance

crayon23

fun fact, Alicia: the big guy you THOUGHT was Ben, was actually the actor for original Ben from the original It tv series!!

Gavin Bickel

So, something that they sort of hint at in these movies but the books make more explicit is just how insidious and pervasive ITs influence is on Derry. The way the adults just look the other way, but also the amped up violence, the hatred and bigotry. They sort of gloss over the fire at the black spot (a club started by a group of black soldiers that turned into a mixed race night club) but in the book they go into detail of how it Derry was a sundown town despite being up in Maine and a stronghold for racist groups, and of course we have the opening incident of the second movie (which takes place in the 80s in the book). And more besides. Derry's history is chock full of spree killers and random outbreaks of mass violence all the way back to before it was founded.

Linnaeus

I'm pretty sure the fat guy who was talking when they introduced adult Ben was the actor who played child Ben in the original

James Rhed

oh yea Yeah Maturin, i think it is like the overarching protagonist of the stephen king multiverse or something like that.

Tim Perry

Rewatching it now it wasn’t as scary but back when i was a kid that shit was terrifying just seeing the dvd box art freaked me out

FmlDoonski85

I just watched the first it reaction what a kowinsidince 🗣️

FmlDoonski85

So, I highly recommend checking out Dominic Noble's lost in adaptation for the book, he goes over both films. Basically, the book is like an insanity, written on cocaine. A lot, of cocaine.

DecoyBlackMage

Wonder if they'll do the 90s tv mini series

crayon23

This is very different in the book and not just the ending. For example, in the book, Bill's wife thinks he is cheating on her (which he does do as he and Bev sleep together) and she follows him to Derry as does Bev's husband. Bev's husband dies and Bill's wife gets captured by IT and loses her mind. The end is Bill restoring her mind. Honestly I don't mind most of the changes, the only one I don't like is in the book after they kill It, which turns out to be female and pregnant, the whole town is destroyed. Where as here it is just the house. And in the book they all forgot again but I'm glad they changed that.

Twiska Brand

I am so happy you got to this!

James T Williams

ima go get redbull for this

Andhy thomas

So weird enough the book started here with the couple being attacked and the guy thrown over. In fact a section of the book talked about the whole trial process and who to blame for the disappearance. The book is weird.. It actually had a few chapters from IT's perspective where he talks about a turtle god.

YukoValis

Second one is fine, but I always preferred the first chapter 😔

Katt

Fun Fact: The scene towards the start involving bill writing good books with shit endings is a jab at Stephen king himself and his books.

Angry King

I haven't seen this one yet so this is going to be exciting!

Scrubthulhu

Oh no.......

Drago the dragon pokemon

Well hello sudden change to my day's plans
