2025-03-18 08:27:12 +0000 UTCI really love Skylar Gaertner as young Matt in the flashbacks, this episode in particular. I feel like I don't often see such good performances from child actors. Love Scott Glen as Stick as well. Hey, you know why the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had a master called Splinter? Because of Stick, that's why! Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird who created TMNT were big fans of Daredevil back in the day and while Stick wasn't a part of the earliest Daredvil comics, he was introduced in 1981, a couple of years before Kevin Eastman would draw a turtle with nunchucks as a joke to make his buddy Peter Laird laugh that would spiral into the crazy huge media property that is TMNT.

2025-03-18 06:20:09 +0000 UTCThat sort of thinking is what leads to writers thinking they can say or do anything no matter how contradictory, nonsensical or lazy and get away with it. Then it escalates because when one bit of bad writing is let go they try and get away with more. I've seen it so many times it really isn't funny anymore. Also just because YOU sit there and consume trash doesn't mean EVERYONE does, has to or should. Unless your talking strictly comedy like Monty Python where story and logic don't matter compared to jokes.

Under the most *technical* of conditions one could argue that kuro (黒) and sora (空) would be more appropriate, but languages are ever-evolving things and I would be remiss to ignore the fact that peppering kana-esque pronunciations for English words into conversational Japanese has been a trend for a while. Still fun to talk about tho!

2025-03-18 04:27:11 +0000 UTC"Burakku sukai" IS actual Japanese. It's the katakana pronunciation that's usually used for nouns if there isn't a Japanese name using Kanji. Black Sky is in fact a noun, and there's no alternate name for it that uses Kanji. That is to say, Stick's pronunciation is entirely accurate.

Daredevil is AMAZING but it was part of Marvel/Netflix's plan to copy the MCU and make their own integrated universe. Daredevil, Ironfist, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are all precursor series (that have tie ins and run in universe at the same time) to the team up show The Defenders. Also Punisher got his show in and imo it's better than all the others because that man can act his bum off. But I digress. I hope this is of some use to you and I love your content. 2025-03-17 20:46:45 +0000 UTCRight. The Flash wasn't Game of Thrones or anything close, but it was serviceable. Sometimes you just want to be entertained. After the season 1 reveal, it just felt like "here's another fast guy to battle" over and over again. When Savitar popped up, I called it quits.

2025-03-17 19:25:05 +0000 UTCGotham was so good early on. Lots of these comic book shows just lose me after a few seasons. Sometimes the writing drops off a cliff and other times they just repeat the same old stuff: Gotham, Black Lightning, Agents of Shield, The Flash, Arrow, etc.
