2025-03-31 23:22:02 +0000 UTCI think the Dutchman meant cheap in the way that hurts others (like you described), but clearly Krabs went a little overboard with being generous, and he didn't fully understand what the Dutchman meant, since he said "don't be cheap" in a very vague non-specific way. It wasn't until Krabs physically assaulted a man over a penny that the Dutchman showed up to take his soul again... Oh and as for the infamous mindfuck gorilla ending, I'd HIGHLY recommend watching Alex Bale's Spongebob Conspiracy Theories at some point in the future! His Television Theory will blow your mind to hell!

2025-03-28 18:16:05 +0000 UTCThere's nothing wrong with being thrifty (especially since you in particular NEED to save money in order to cover your medical bills), but Mr. Krabs' brand of "being cheap" is indeed a subset of the Cardinal Sin of Greed/Avarice, since he was being a Miser on the same level as Ebenezer Scrooge. Miserly behavior is the extreme reluctance to spend ANY money, just hoarding stagnant wealth away like some ancient dragon (or a billionaire), rather than allowing it to constantly change hands throughout the economy as money should. In Dante's Inferno, Misers were one of the types of Sinners specifically mentioned as suffering in the Fourth Ring of Hell, the Ring of Greed. Remember, Jesus Christ himself said that "it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 19:24), because even back then He understood that it is morally wrong to hoard more than you need in a world where scarcity exists.

Mr. Krabs' Germam VA also plays a children's character named "Benjamin Blümchen" (Benjamin Flower, which is also what Krabs says in the German dub) and in the scene where he says it he even changes his voice to Benjamin's when saying it.

Benjamin Blümchen" (which is technicall Benjamin Flowers if you would translate it). The joke is Benjamin Blümchen is a character from a different childrens show who is spoken by the same Voice Actor. And the Voice Actor really uses the voice for the other character for that scene.
