Mind you making red bean soup takes up to 8 hours of prep time, as the beans need to be soaked overnight. Makes sense they can't make more as the chefs wouldn't soak more beans overnight, they already had a huge pot of soup ready

All the chopper hate definitely unessasary from a manga readers perspective, but hey thats how it be, toei be disappointing us more often than not

2025-04-05 20:55:08 +0000 UTCSo, the part where Luffy was "grieving" Hyogoro was very much stretched out by Toei. In the manga he pulls him out, get the exposition about advanced Armament Haki, then he does the slump so we get the comedic reaction of him actually being ok, all in about 2 pages. Toei animation can make things feel long, but it all happens real fast (someone made the apt comparison of a combat D&D round, which can take several minutes IRL, but in game is always about 6 seconds).+ While I understand the frustration with Chopper, remember that the only time he has been a true physical "threat" was pre-timeskip Monster Point, which was killing him while sending him into a blind rage that caused him to attack his friends as much as his enemies. Before that, he had a couple fights where he was the winner, but his true "value" has and always will be his medical knowledge. The timeskip really didn't do much to increase his overall strength too much, just gave him the ability to control Monster Point, and some more slightly stronger or more well-rounded transformations, like Guard Point and Kung-Fu Point, respectively. Chopper would not have been much help against Big Mom: Monster Point would have maybe slowed her down, but then she possibly has beef with Chopper; he could have asked her to stop given that she was "Olin", but even that wouldn't have really worked. Chopper, Ussopp, and Nami are still the "Scaredy-Cat Trio", but they show up when it matters.
