There is that famous rule "show, don't tell", but I love One Piece because thanks to its long narrative format it so often does "tell, THEN show". Most exposition and lore dumps in One Piece are just another way to generate hype. Take Wano, the New Wolrd, Fishman Island... how long it took to see those places since we first heard of them? Most of the times, though, I'm not denying that even One Piece does plain old expositions without payoffs.
