Yeah, kinda disappointing that she's watching it in chinese, but I've gotten more used to it even though i think the Japanese and English dubs are better.

Would love to see you check out King's Avatar or Daily Life of the Immortal King some day, I think you would love them. on the CG side, I recommend Battle Through the Heavens, Soul Land, and Snow Eagle Lord

The ex-boss isn’t actually wrong tho. If he isn’t an anime protagonist, which, most people aren’t, the only path to success for him, is working hard as a normal person. 3. Belief shaping deity is a very common trope in Chinese pop fiction. This show twisted it to hero, or rather idles, which I guess are the modern gods. 4. 250 means idiot. There is a story behind it not too dissimilar to king Solomon cutting someone in half, but with money instead. Hence the people calling this enlightener guy 250, and him wanting to be 249. 5. Former boss’s new armour is a 3 legged toad. A good luck charm for wealth. The chest piece is a coin, with the words “booming business” on it. Overall the almost cyberpunk like depiction of late stage capitalism is really hitting home. Especially now that I’ve been on a business trip across China for 2 months now.

I imagine it as typecast or applying traits from a character to the actor turned to a fucking 11 with a heavy dose of an extremely para social general populace.
