Fun fact but while it's never revealed in the manga itself, the name of roger's sword was revealed to be ace and is one of the 12 supreme grade swords, I didn't actually know that last part until typing this, I always thought it was an unfamed sword.

2025-04-28 18:52:46 +0000 UTCSome technical corrections. Wano is distant, but the sea it's in isn't. Wano is in the same sea as Fishman Island, since it's is in between the Grandline and New World. Like how EU and NA are distant, but both are connected to the Atlantic Ocean. So it's probably not Momo, especially if we include "Will be born" in the mix lol. So unless Oda is doing some "deceiving by technicality" shenanigans with the time travel and "distant sea" meaning long distance away and not one of the six oceans, I think it's safe to assume it's not Momo.

He's the first person to ever break out of impeldown, and there's a movie centered around him. The events of One Piece movies aren't cannon, but the characters in them are. It's kinda like a "what if" oc, to make a movie where shiki is the antagonist, they have to scale him down to be defeatable.

He is a Canon character with a Canon backstory ( He was supposed to be mentioned by Shanks during his meeting with WB until Oda changed his mind ). The events of the movie are not considered Canon by Oda, but Shiki gets mentioned and makes some cameo appearances in the Manga/Anime. Sengoku mentioned him when he was talking about The Rocks Pirates.

Only a few episodes ago we saw that old hag with the clone clone fruit change her face to Shiki’s face. He was also mentioned by Sengoku in episode 958 as someone who sailed under Rocks D. Xebec. Then maybe you wonder if the Old Hag also sailed with Rocks since she has Shiki’s face to clone and she could have only done that by touching the person, as we saw with Bon Clay in Alabasta. 👀

To want to mourn the death of your dear friend and to be sad but to be absolutely enthralled, amazed, and shaken by the life they led and the impact they had. With his dying breath, Roger single-handedly changed the world. It's hard not be completely enthralled by that, especially when it's someone you were close with. Man. Oda has such a way with making larger then life characters. Like I can't help but compare the likes of Oden and Roger and Whitebeard to like... Characters from childhood folktales. They feel *that* huge. It's amazing, really.

It is just refreshing, because I think some people might have tried to include him in some manner, seeing that we are in his "arc" so to speak. Note how we only see Crocodile from the back at Rogers execution. Now I am not saying it is because he was female at the time, and had a meet cute encounter with Dragon at the after-execution party. But it just seems like a possibility to me.

Movies on a whole are rarely referenced because the gap in time between when they are written and where the manga is, is too big. For marketing it’s easier to let them be then force it. MHA has this exact problem, they are implicitly obliviously cannon but only reference characters because, it’s hard to refrance naturally times already passed, and are put in in hindsight. It’s cherry picking, people just decide to avoid external content because it is admittedly hard to keep track of.

And even Oda’s interview are regularly contradicted, so yes you should take what I’ve said with a grain of salt/

Oda has written a few scenes for some movies but this one in particular is written by him in its entirety. It’s the popular thing to discount movies and filler, and sometimes that is very unfounded. In the case of Strong World people without reading comprehension don’t like some implications, and don’t like that some core lore is very loosely addressed - ‘if it’s not in the main show it’s not cannon’ bs. Originally it was supposed to be a main story character arc but got rewritten because the production team wanted to limit this exact problem. Plus the original script apparently was WAY to important and sad for a movie.

Despite being the only one 100% written by Oda. I know you’re going to watch them all after eventually but that one is subtly connected more then the others.
