i swear comprehension went out the window for these 2 during the fight with Ikaris when the deviant comes in. now do i take this as good movie not exactly but like come on the critique there is horrible. Thena "why are you helping Ikaris" asking Phastos who just stopped the deviant from Attacking Ikaris to which Phastos replies "we can't let it absorb our powers" answering Thena's question cause they would be most likely completely fucked if they left the deviant and ended up letting it take Ikaris's power. other than this i don't really have any issues but man that peeved me so bad cause it doesn't matter who it goes after they can't let it absorb anyones powers even if it was after Ikaris

Personally a mid movie with cool powers and a character reveal saved for the post-credits that had me jumping out of my seat. I mean NOTHING from this movie had me as hyped as "Mr. Whitman." Well, that and the carburetor.

CeCactus13

Idk if anyone has said it but yes Alicia Galactus eats baby Celestials. That's one of his Cosmic Roles to thin the Celestial population before they emerge by eating they're host planets. Depending on which cannon your going off of course.

Okay one I have been going back and watching all the reactions with Key in it! Please have them on more! Also as far as Makkari being deaf/mute, along with being inclusive, the actress Lauren Ridloff is an amazing deaf actress, the most common theory is it is linked to her speed power. That either she did not have hearing to begin with to protect her from sonic booms, or said sonic booms over time caused her to go deaf.

ELS_Art

Some of the dialog sounds like it was written by committee

Carburetor. I got you man

18:55, its almost like they play brothers in a very famous tv show your watching on your new channel! lol Also, while we're talking about WWII and that infamous German doctor, it's worth pointing out the disturbing parallels—especially since Germany and Japan were allies. Japan committed atrocities of its own, including two events that are often compared to the Holocaust. One was the Rape of Nanking—if you're not familiar with it, look it up. It's one of the worst war crimes of the 20th century. The other was Unit 731, where the Japanese military carried out horrifying human experiments, some on par with or even worse than what happened in Nazi Germany. Shockingly, it took Japan decades—often dismissing or denying the accounts of survivors—before it finally began to acknowledge the horrific history of Unit 731, and that shift only began within the last 30 years if my memory serves me right. And with Makkari—I felt the same way, Alicia. I really enjoyed her performance, and she did a great job in the role. That said, it doesn’t quite make sense, since Makkari isn’t deaf or mute in the comics. And as much as I hate to validate the bullshit culture war talking points, this felt like one of those cases where Disney, as you mentioned, seemed to force in diversity. The issue isn’t with the actress—she’s talented and brought a lot to the character, as little she was in this movie—but rather with the break in storytelling logic. One of the key aspects of storytelling and world-building is making the audience believe in the world you're presenting. When something feels inconsistent or forced, even in small ways, it can break that immersion. And once that crack appears, it can continue to spread (you'll subconsciously start seeing other problems either minor you can shrug off or major ones that you're like "oh come on, this doesnt make any sense!") , leading viewers to question other elements and ultimately disengage from the story. In the case of Eternals, they made a supposedly perfect, godlike being deaf/mute—when that wasn’t part of the original character—just doesn’t make sense within the logic of the story. So it forms that first crack in the movies downfall, for me at least. Its really makes me sad this was Chloe Zhao's follow up after Nomadland.

internal carburetor vs. eternal carbonated

Killian_Jones_Hook

You know what, this movie isn't good...at all, BUT...having Alicia and the guy (feel bad, cause I forgot his name) rip on it throughout made it fun. Honestly, get that dude in for more Marvel stuff, he's pretty cool.

Jammy Thing

This whole movie doesn’t make sense it feels like one of those early 2000 marvel movies where they reference stuff from the comics but aren’t actually canon even in MCU lore nothing adds up also that character in the post credit scene is actually a very controversial character now a days because his power is basically “pleasure” and he sometimes uses it non consensually so he’s basically marvel’s P diddy

James Fernandez

Lauren Ridloff is actually deaf in real life so the whole sign language thing isnt some discrepancy its literally just cus shes deaf

Spicy Noodles

I don't like this movie much either, lots of things could have been improved, not sure how the rating is ok

Ankur Pashine

yes the script is bad......but she whas talking to phantos not the deviant

Lance Ivy

when you think about it pips life is a horror story could you imagin 7000 years of teenage hormons

Lance Ivy

this movie is so half baked, which sucks cause this had so much promise and some really good moments.

Ian Keeney

In the end I thought he was sparing them for the act of killing a celestial for the moment, but he's taking them to the world forge to scan through their memories so he can decide if humanity is worthy of life and if Tiamut's death was actually worth it or not, once he's made a decision he'll come back and make a ruling law and order style. Also issacs death does kinda make sense when you think about it like he's just killed his god's child. He basically killed space Jesus and couldn't take the guilt imo.

Kieren

the "why are you helping ikarus" is not said to the Deviants, but to the technology guy, who attacked the Deviants, as in why are you stoping the deviants that is against ikaruslike us. and he answer that they can't let him get more power, because if he get ikarus power then he will be an even worst threats than ikarus

millecamps

What Arishem is saying at the end is pretty straightforward. He is basically space god, his baby daughter was just murdered by his own creations. He knows that even if he destroys Earth and all the eternals now, there's no point, Tiamut is dead he cannot bring her back, so he HAS to believe that there's a good F***** reason that they killed her and he's going to bring them all back to the forge to check their memories and if he does not find their reasoning satisfying enough, he's going back to Earth and giving a godly smite to all of Earth and all the eternals that aided in the death of essentially his daughter.

David Bodor

Was this movie written by AI? No way I could finish this without you two

Nanogerm

When Thena said "Why are you helping Icarus?" I think she was talking to Phastos

Raskilion

Alicia he is not throwing himself in the Sun because he attacked the other Eternals, he is throwing himself into the Sun because he just helped them murder a baby!

David Bodor

Honestly Druig thwacking the kid is one of the funniest clips without context.

David Bodor

When Thena said, "Why are you helping Ikaris?" Thena is talking to Phastos because he blasted the deviant while it was about to attack Ikaris. Phastos then replies that it was because they can't let the Deviant absorb more power. Thena was not asking the deviant why it was helping Ikaris.

Nathan Samms

Also I don't think it's that weird for a person to not scream and just grimace quietly in pain?

Kinky

she is in fact not faster than the flash, i doubt most speed type powered heroes are lol

Karma

I told you this movie sucked well I should say we all told you this movie sucked. well actually not all but most of us told you this movie sucked. there are some people who genuinely think this movie is good as you can tell by the 77% popcorn score on rotten tomatoes. which genuinely blows my mind how anyone and I mean how anyone can think this movie is even remotely good or even ok. cause this movie isn't good it's not ok it's not even bad it's terrible it sucks and I'm sorry you had to sit through and watch this garbage. As a marvel comics fan we all deserved better. You also deserved better than having to sit through and watch this atrocity.

Iron_claw

they were so worn out watching this movie by the end they couldn't pay attention lol.

vincent shiflett

Apparently, yes, Galactus does eat celestial babies

Dajkenoth

Even with both Alicia and Key, I still couldn't get through it a second time. Wild.

GrimPitbull

Is Hiroshima taught as an atrocity in the west? We were always taught it was a just deserved end. Where I’m from, people cheer when the two nukes were mentioned

Bowman C.

The flash from dc is so much faster but the flash movie did no justice for him.

Brandon Holaday

Honestly I enjoyed this movie, even on rewatch, I was able to connect with the characters just fine and never felt lost or bored when watching. I do see how some criticism makes sense but I feel like its over hated for sure. I'm actually really sad that some of the plot points most likely won't be explored since I really wanted to see it. Especially with dane since he would have become Black Knight and also would have had stuff to do with blade, who's movie is now scrapped (which sucks because I really wanted to see blade also) But anyway, I did like this movie and I do acknowledge it could have been better but it's in no way a bad movie.

Jermtheworm

Nerd time: Most of the eternals have direct Greek analogs except Druig (mind control guy) who tends to match closer to Dolos (trickster). Gilgamesh is actually older than all of them and is often referred to as the "first hero" in history. The epic of Gilgamesh is ancient sumerian and something i wrote a long af paper on.

Emeradis

Yeah, that's the case in a few comics after the eternals comics happened. Normally Galactus eats planets for the same reason Celestials put eggs in em.

Emeradis

I think galactus job is partly to keep the celestials in check so it eats the planets wirh babies
