"What's that word...?"
"Harem?"
"Yeah but in non-anime terms..."
Alicia, 'Harem' is an Arabic word

Yeah, the scene of scaring Boo is always emotional. Breaking a child's trust is heavy

You should do the prequel and you should also watch the movie "Antz". It's a great older animated movie

Okay so I have this somewhat wild theory on why the monsters are so paranoid about human children and believe they're toxic. Maybe back when Monsters Incorporated was first established and they first started their scream energy collecting operations, at the same time a global pandemic was happening in the human world, like maybe the Spanish Flu or Smallpox. So children that caught the widespread disease would end up infecting the monsters that they came in contact with, and the infected monsters would end up dying from the disease as a result. Honestly I think that would make perfect sense as to why everyone in monster society was lead to believe that all human children were toxic and deadly, and took such extreme measures to prevent getting infected by their toxicity. Even long after that pandemic ended in the human world, but monsters don't know that or how stuff in the human world works in general, so they just assumed all human children were deathly infectious all the time naturally. NGL beginning the first scare operations during a human world pandemic would arguably be the absolute worst first impression or most severely inconvenient time, and it would definitely leave a permanent scar on monster society. NTM Mr. Waternoose said the company has been in his family for 3 generations (and he's pretty old), so perhaps it's not too far fetched to assume that maybe Monster's Inc was first founded and began operations around when the Spanish Flu was spreading between 1918 and 1920, which is often considered one of the deadliest pandemics in history. So yeah I'd imagine a lot of monsters would be freaking out seeing some of their best Scarers suddenly get terribly sick and die of disease they got from those human kids.
Now of course Mr. Waternoose has always been a shady CEO behind the scenes. It always seemed like he lied about human children being toxic just to keep monsters in place and his business running, though if the company was in his family for 3 whole generations, I find it unlikely that all of his past relatives who ran the company before him all did the same thing. Perhaps his father or grandfather were under the impression that human children were toxic, especially if it did start during a pandemic. Though later down the line perhaps Mr. Waternoose eventually figured out that human children weren't actually toxic as widely believed, or at least not anymore. But he decided to still convince the monster public that they were to keep everything in place and under his control and whatnot.
I'll say this much, if Monsters Inc's change from scream to laughter energy operations continued all the way into 2020 when the Covid 19 pandemic hit, then boy do I feel bad for all those monsters who got too comfortable being near human children overtime making em laugh for a living, as they'd end up contracting Covid from those kids and then spreading it around in the monster world. The chaos comes back full circle all over again! I can only imagine the chaos Mike and Sully would have to deal with in that scenario!
Sorry about that long ramble. Maybe I just put a little too much thought into this wild guess of a theory? I wouldn't be surprised if it's full of holes. XD

Thinking back on it I feel like The Bee Movie was written by someone in a fever dream because one of the driving message of the film is basically "Beesiality is ok"

yeah so since 9/11 was mentioned. this movie actually has to do with that in a weird way. remember the end of the restaurant scene where they come to decontaminate cause of the human child and mike says "that couldn't gone worse" in the movie a big green forcefield covers the area and shit but in the original version of the movie they blew up the whole building. after 9/11 tho they thought it insensitive or to be a reminder so they scrsppwd and chanhed the scene entirely.
