2025-05-29 21:41:23 +0000 UTCConceptually I liked Thriller Bark... but here's the problem I had with it: I can accept it when the Straw Hats get their asses handed to them because they've bit off more than they can chew, like what was happening through much of Water 7/Enies Lobby, first time around in Sabaody, Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, and Whole Cake - it's a battle shounen and our protagonists are going to get their asses handed to them until they level up and win in the end. It just goes with the genre. But Thriller Bark to me wasn't that - to me Thriller Bark was them getting their asses handed to them because they were STUPID, and I can only take so much of that before it wears thin on me, which it did in Thriller Bark.
