2025-06-28 01:41:31 +0000 UTCmost of the first movie is pretty good, but the stone giants, the part where they fall on the scaffolding in goblin town, and Azog really bring it down. especially the pinecone bomb scene, the tree dominoes and azog just make it worse, bastard even got rid of the song! truly a villain of all time. Also how the hell did Azog get across the mountains that fast? The company basically just got a massive shortcut through goblin town, and he just shows up immediately.

2025-06-22 23:59:57 +0000 UTChonestly, the only thing i actually have major issue with in this is the giants.....in the book during their journey through the mountains they do see giants, but its not a fight, they're described as basically playing football or rugby with rocks rather than actually being violent Gandalf later actually says that he's going to go back and ask "a more or less decent giant" if they would bury the cave that the goblins trapped the dwarves in with rocks, to stop future travellers being captured. that "more or less" quote (directly from the book) shows the giants are somewhat decent people overall

The door has very specific requirements which includes the thrush banging against the rock with an acorn, which is what woke the dragon. That was gonna happen regardless of Thorin doing anything, so Gandalf wanting to deal with it now makes a lot of sense.

2025-06-07 23:57:36 +0000 UTCWhile this movie did a pretty good job with the Riddles scene, it misses one of my favorite parts, which is that Bilbo didn't even know the answer to the final riddle. He was sputtering and trying to ask for more time, and Time was the only word that he was actually able to get out his mouth.
