final one in the series!! :D

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

At least they leave it as a plot hole. It was still stupid to change it but at least they semi kept the original. By saying "he got it from dying captain then lost it and some point in which he had to buy it back from Tia dalma" but they just shouldn't of even changed it all

I already don’t care for the movie, it’s ok, I think I was just under whelmed after seeing the first 3, one thing that bothers me is they changed how Jack got the compass, he originally got it from Tia Dalma, but now apparently he got it from a dying captain

hadn't seen 4 and 5 until now and I think making it another trilogy/duology to find the trident instead of 1 movie would have made it stronger, if only because "you'll never find it" *finds it faster than they've found anything before* but overall not too shabby

I have come to the objectively correct conclusion that the order of these movies from best to worst is 2 1 4 3 5

Okay i rewatching this i can agree finally wiht some people yes there was a whole shift of Jacks character he was mostly wobbling around drunk and mentioning things like "Shark" "Pirate" or whatever in a suprirsed tone voice jsut calling things out loud that are obvouis and he isint very clever as the other movies and that also includes his fighting style which was a mess BUT in his defense his luck did actually turn not only that he had the pearl infront of him but was forced to see he could really sail with it not only that he was conflicted or just too drunk all the time to really know what his heart wants but im glad he got himself together in the end especially when it comes to the continueation there is more to the story after this movie ends there is the Pirates of the Caribbean crossover for Sea of thieves it explains how exactly Davy Jones came back and Long version of it is that the Dutchman needed a captain to continue ferrying souls so it resurrected Jones. Jack decided to leave Will and Elizabeth out of his fight with Jones figuring they had gone through enough. Jack then stole a treasure from Jones the let him travel to other worlds (which explains how he gets to the sea of thieves world) with Dutchman in hot pursuit, jack uses the treasure to hop worlds in hopes of escaping Jones, but ends up being killed, getting trapped in sea of thieves version of the Flying Dutchman. Calypso, seeing that Davy Jones was still alive, followed jack and Jones into the new world. Player character’s end up saving jack from the land of the dead and the trapped crew of the black pearl. They learn however that Jones is making his own version of the brethren court, made of the villains in the sea of thieves, with the purpose of taking control of the sea’s. With the help of calypso and the remaining crew of the black pearl, are able to banish Davy Jones to the land of the dead so that he may never return. TLDR, Jones gets resurrected by the Dutchman, so jack travels to another world to kill him. You should honestly go play the game if you haven’t, It’s free on game pass and the story and missions pull from not only the films but also the rides in disney its confirmed this crossover is officially part of the Pirates of the Caribbean actual story even barbossa returns for a short second but in the dead land and to help confirm it more u can board the black pearl and theres books that u can read that talk about most adventures even a part that takes place right as the screen of the end of the movie where it tells u what jack does

There's so much that feels wrong with this movie. It completely ignores established lore. For example, Tia Dalma originally gave Jack the compass. Then there's Jack. Jack as a character in this movie does not feel like Jack in the prior films. In the past he's always scheming and planning, you never knew if you could fully trust him or not. In this movie he feels like an idiot who conveniently gets out of situations on pure luck. He's not clever nor conniving, just a lucky fool. As for the Trident, it having control over all curses at sea makes no sense, Tia Dalma is the ultimate power at sea. She was the one who tasked Will with ferrying the dead. If anything has the power to break that, it should've been her. Plus the Trident ending all curses at sea, kills any potential for later films. There can't be any mystical elements in future POTC films as it would directly contrast this film.

I cant believe I'm going to defend this film. But I think there is a significant difference between the times he has handed the compass temporarily to someone else and selling it for a drink at rock bottom.

the trilogy starts their movies so much better - the iconic intro of the first and then continuation of the story for 2 and 3. 4 was just ... filler almost - but I have to say : Carina and Henry being the kids of Turner and Barbossa and tying all that together was MASTERFUL!! it ended Barbossas life/arc and gave it a twist of emotion at the end. it took the Turner family and ended* that story ... it's kind of a cheap shot accumulating ALL the curses of the sea into a breakable object. but as a finale that made sense

Silver Blade

They were planning to do another trilogy staring the Turners and Davy Jones but as you learned, they fired Depp before they were ready to make another movie. Maybe one day

DeathHawk31

To be fair, I'm with Rich on this one: if nobody sees the bed but you guys, and you're going to unmake it later anyways, why bother making the bed?

Where I live this movie was called "Salazar's Revenge" and I remember thinking, as the title card hit, how much better it would have been to call it "Dead Men Tell No Tales". I was so disappointed to find out that in other places they had actually given it the good name, but not here.
