I do wish Myung-gi was given more time to show his potential rottenness, but I feel they telegraphed that he was a self-serving scumbag while giving him the chance to potentially be redeemed. He abandoned his pregnant girlfriend, and it didn't take much convincing at all for him to slaughter people for money. I believe he would have done whatever he could to save the baby, but it works for me because it creates a dichotomy between someone who would protect another person's baby with his life and a person who would choose himself over his own child. Myung-gi is what In-ho believes a human is, and Gi-hun is what humans can be.
It wasn't a perfect execution, but I overall thought it was pretty good. As far as arc go, I actually think Min-su's was fantastic; I expected that we'd see Min-su rise to the moment and be a more proactive person, but this story is more realistic than that. He entered the games a codependent coward who constantly relied on other people to survive, choosing strength over loyalty when he picked Nam-gyu and Thanos over Se-mi. He gets his moment when he kills Nam-gyu, but after that, he's just drifting through life. Revenge didn't actually heal him, the only thing that healed him was accepting that he was to blame for Se-mi's death.
EDIT: My thoughts on the ending is that it's somewhat weak, but I do believe that most loose threads have been addressed. I think No-eul's quest for her child is open-ended, and In-ho's future actions are up in the air, but Jun-ho I feel has allowed himself to be free of his brother for the sake of the baby, 246 gets to raise his daughter in peace, and Gi-hun was finally able to provide for his daughter. It was an overall unsatisfying ending IMO, but I think that, at least with Gi-hun and No-eul, it was handled well.

Respectfully Alicia, this thumbnail was NOT it, even if we wanted to argue this was the obvious conclusion.

One of the most important aspects of storytelling is actually quite simple, you're not always owed answers. Ambiguity and dissatisfaction keep the story going, especially when there's more story to tell. The ending was great for the Korean version but people expecting 2 bros and a dream to somehow expose a potentially multi BILLION DOLLAR operation alone. lets be real, brutal unfairness and indifference of life. it'll take more than just determination. Gi-hun literally paid the price for CLINGING TO THAT VERY IDEAL.

As much as I hate milking IPs like they are gonna do with the American spin off, I have high hopes for it since David Fincher is in charge of it.

Once the armed revolt failed this was the only way it could’ve ended.
Remember that this show is supposed to be a commentary on Korean history and society; How could our protagonists ever end this cycle of exploitation when the people of South Korea haven’t yet freed themselves of the exploitative system that these games feed off of?
So long as our society continues to create poverty and desperation in the people living under it then the Squid Game will always have players; and so long as we continue to let monstrous sociopaths get disgustingly rich off of other people’s labor then there will always be more VIPs to fund it.

Alicia, respectfully, that thumbnail was the wrong choice. I came on here to check for One Piece and had thankfully finished Squid Game already but that would have been one heck of a spoiler since I needed to scroll past it to see the other recent uploads. Hoping in the future you’re a little more careful with the thumbnail selection please.

I have some hope for the US version with David Fincher directing it, but having the main series ending on a teaser for the spin-off feels very lame on top of all the unresolved/unsatisfying plot points. Hopefully, In-Ho and the detective come back in one of the new series because that 1 minute stare-off after being on a boat for 10 episodes straight was not satisfying at all.

Season 3 started strong but ran out of gas after 222 died. The American version is apparently being directed by David Fincher which has me interested enough to give it a shot.
