Man. I'm now realizing Briggs, General Armstrong, Miles and everyone else had a HUGE impact on me as a kid. I didn't give this anime enough credit for helping me develop. Awesome stuff

Olivia's outlook may be better than most but it is still deeply disconnected from most of the reality of people's lives in her country, she basically has the same mindset as Father but on the other side and with no end goal. but I still love her and would still love even if she was not a mad hottie with DSLs

2024-01-07 05:31:25 +0000 UTCIIRC Arakawa and studio BONES had the warring and genocide in Bosnia and Serbia very much in mind when the manga and the first version of the anime were created. I wish FMAB felt dated now, but it only resonates more with world events every year :(

2024-01-02 04:29:03 +0000 UTC18:50 and this is also my take when it comes to either HAVING to talk about race OR choosing to talk about ones life and peoples culture in a neutral or even positive way since the negativity only feeds further neggativity but if you feed the disscussion AT LEAST with the positive aspects of what differing race and culture means than i feel it still helps illuminate and fight back against the constant negativity of the past.
