Howdy, another binger sliding in from YT. Loved your reaction, all the pauses to theorize and rant and wax poetic were worth it. I had so many moments of your wrinkly brain catching things I've missed after many rewatched of FMA:B, its been a joy. I'm definitely going to stick around and find another react of yours to binge. It's delayed, but congrats on you winning the fight against cancer. My mom fought and won her fight with cancer when I was little, so hearing you mention it during this series hit home; it's inspiring to hear the bits of your story that you shared. I think it would be weird to work backwards since FMAB was also paced assuming you knew the gist of what happened in the beginning through FMA 03, but even so I agree. 03 still has a story very much worth seeing, and it's really interesting to see how characters split off and grow differently from their Brotherhood counterparts; or to see how the story is affected by certain characters not even being there and some others being 03 originals. I look back fondly on 03, having grown up on it and being traumatized by it as an elementary schooler, lol.

I know your probably done with fmab for awhile but I would love for you to give fullmetal alchemist (2003) a shot, all the reactors just skip it for brotherhood but its a great anime and even has a different story line to brotherhood so you wouldnt just be watching the same anime

Honestly, this is one of my favourite pieces of entertainment, not just anime. The recap episode was soft, because, well, it's a recap episode, but almost every other episode is solid and there's not really any filler I feel. And as you say, the ending was excellent, which is hard for any series.

I used to love Code Geass but I watch it now and I'm like.. ok.. why are they leaving the blind wheel chair girl with a nuke button alone in a garden with stairs. Why is everyone going to pretend these dudes didn't just nuke a city and kill 50 mil people. We all just ignoring horrendous war crimes? And then the way the characters act and dialogue just has me rolling. Rewatch it on the channel with your modern commentary. Haha it'll be funny as hell.

Every single person I have seen FMAB with or watched react to it have reacted the same way to Roys Damn Mustache. This has been one of my favorite FMAB reactions, and I have seen a few throughout the years. Came for the One Piece, and while I am staying for the One Piece because that thing is never going to end, Alicias FMAB reactions have really been an enjoyable experience. I do hope she reacts to the Bloopers and 4-Koma theater shorts. There are some classics among them. I love the fact that Ed continues his journey learning alchemy, despite no longer being able to preform it. I have just always had a love for non-magic mages, people with a deep knowledge on magic, but who are unable to perform it themselves. Because it makes sense that there would be people like that.

The thing with Code Geass is that it has an unrivaled ending. But it has varying quality throughout, it has some really great storylines and some pretty weak ones. It also falls hard into the fanservice trap, especially in S2.

Yeah, FMAB is one of those anime that are just so good and timeless. I don’t like to use the phrase “objectively good” but if I were to use it, FMAB is definitely what I would apply it to. It’s been my favourite since the 5th grade and remains to be so today at age 21. I have rewatched it maybe 9 times, this reaction series being the 10th, and I never get sick of it.

FMAB really get it's claws in you with the trauma bonding.... combined with the writing being S tier - the antagonists/homonculi having their own flavor, while being formidable. the show being adapted "after the fact" allowing them when producing it to minimize the tediousness of serialised anime - the flashbacks, recaps, 6 minutes of every 20 minute episode being recap of what happened in the last episode. so it's incredibly well paced for an anime.

hate to rant on but somehow no one seems to of thrown it out there yet? OPENING 1 - when they show winry just kinda being tossed about without losing anything like ed and al, this episode connects to it, the same way SOME PEOPLE WOULD SAY THE OPENING SPOILS THE END OF THE SERIES (despite it being hidden well enough to not openly spoil ever with reading into it unlike FRIEREN op 1 which spoils the entire plot opening from characters n story development... not judging just wish people who informed ya thought more before making us lose content) in the fact that what Winry lost that day was emotional and inside herself. You can't see what was torn away from her but it was taken regardless and since spoilers are off the table another detail missed easily by those who only watch the series once is the name of the OP which is "again". I'll leave it at that.

Code geass holds up well but it wa salso my number 1 until I saw FMAB a while back. Its just like you said... its just a full package tied together. Its rare to see these days an actual ending. It handled so many sub plots with isval, Roy, scar, etc going on with the main story yet it feels like all those are qraped up. Even Havock just the fact we forgot about him but roy never leaved a man behind. Its somwthing small but show the show tried resplving the sub plots well..

Ahh oshinoko to you must have been what shinsekai yori is for me. It stayed with me. Not my fav anime that would be friren right now or full metal or demon slayer. But shinsekai yori Made me think... The one anime that is CONSTANTLY making me think about it... I watched it at a period of time where i was thinking about the meaning of humanity and sentience and all of that due to my own life expereince ( i was leaving a cult at the time ) To this day i cant come up with a moral resolution to that story...

You should definitely watch it all again someday. Every time I watch again, I notice something amazing. Like how the first time we see Al's body in the portal, he is facing his own door waiting for his soul, but after Ed goes there and promises to come back, Al's body is facing Ed's door every time after that waiting for Ed to come back.

Not sure if she noticed it and just didnt comment on it but Ed also stopped wearing his hair in a braid (like his mom did) and started wearing the ponytail (like his dad did) after the final fight. There is also the scene earlier after the fight with Kimblee, but i think that was more for a disguise. also them recreating the family photo with him smiling was such a fantastic touch and final frame.

If you'd like, there are OVAs of short stories that include Winry and Riza's downtime, Izumi's training in Briggs, etc. There's also a series of shorts called 4-Koma/Panel Theatre, which are collections of animated comic strips made the original author. Maybe FMA:B isn't the greatest anime of all time, but it's the greatest shounen anime of all time. And I mean anime, there may be better shounen manga out there with worse anime adaptations, but when talking about Shounen anime, including music, English and Japanese voice acting, animation, story, characters, plot, pacing, etc, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is the best Shounen anime of all time.
