There was a lot of behind the scenes power games to determine the hierarchy of the concubines. It is likely that Lady Lihua's Ladies initially think that Maomao might have been sent by Lady Gyokuo to weaken their lady's standing in the court.

When they got to the emperor's garden they had no idea about sex, techniques, etc. They're innocent little beans who have NO IDEA about sex. This is actually a lot like it was back in history - and often there'd be a red light district not far from the palace for the emperor and others to get their freak on. A lot of the concubining was for political gain and heirs, not for fun sex times. Maomao just handed Linhua a big old golden key to entertaining the Emperor more than the other concubines. XD
