In all fairness to the lady doctor, she's a pediatrician, not a surgeon. No one without surgical training should be doing life saving operations. Even if there was a kid in need of an operation, she probably deals with internal medicine. I don't blame her for being overwhelmed to be honest.

As for what medicine they are referring to they may be referring to antler velvet it was used in ancient china. The powdered form is used and marketed as a general tonic, an anti-stress aid, and medication for osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. 2024-03-07 10:16:14 +0000 UTCNo spoiler just a theory without conform in manga I found a crazy hint in the chess pieces in last episode. Each piece represents a member of the crew. King Luffy. Certainly, Zoro is the rock because of his solidity, but what is special is Nami the Queen’s piece. In the manga covers( oda draw what they are doing on off screen in the covers so no spoiler to the main story), Oda always draws Luffy and Nami wearing a crown, wearing royal clothes, and the rest of the crew wearing the clothes of royal soldiers. Or they sitting on the throne together. There is a theory that she is of a royal lineage, which may be true, or it may be a hint about who will be the Pirate Queen in the future.

Her perspective checks out if she's a podiatrist and I think it makes sense for a military base to have a specialist foot doctor. She's probably used to looking at x-rays.

2024-03-02 04:05:36 +0000 UTCIt's likely Kobato (the doctor lady) was a physician and dealt more with pharmaceuticals and minor diagnoses than actual medical emergencies. I wouldn't say she's incompetent, she is just used to a different sort of medical environment and was forced into a situation she's not experienced in. Heck, it's likely she chose a physician position because she has a phobia of blood, and could avoid it while still being a doctor. Chopper being a ship doctor has to be capable of a large spectrum of medical procedures and knowledge, so he can handle pharmaceuticals and surgeries, Kobato's worst day before now was probably cleaning up scrapes or cuts and putting bandages on them.
