It's a very Japanese sentiment, which is why it's a bit hard to translate. Very much in line with Japanese optimism and work ethic - "even if I've lost now, that doesn't mean it'll always be that way!"

I am aware of The Ranking of Kings, it is a great anime.

King's Ranking is another one that does so, so well. The main character is both deaf and mute, and is extremely weak and sickly to boot, but the story is about how he makes the most of the skills he has, rather than focusing on his shortcomings.

Some nuance to the last sentence Oushi said while the subtitles made it "I don't wanna let this guy beat me without a fight" from what I actually heard him say was more in the direction of "I can't quit while behind" or "can't let it end with me just beaten".
Now that I actually try to put it in words it's hard to actually translate properly, but basically he already admitted his defeat in his word choice but is resolved to not just let it end there with his defeat.

Dragon Prince is one of the few shows that treats certain aspects well. Its an exception to many rules, as is Owl House.
When I mention BBT its not the in-world jokes im talking about, its the timing of the laugh track. The Characters themselves arnt laughing at Sheldon (Half the time), its that the creators of the show seem to think its funny and want the audience to laugh at it. Its not even Jokes, its not Comedy, its just them laughing at his autism.
As for Family Guy, its bottom of the barrel jokes that haven't been funny for a decade, if it was ever funny to begin with. Family Guy doesn't poke fun at everything, thats South Park, and when South park does it they actually show some respect to the topic (as long as it isn't something like Scientology). Family Guy just makes Edgy jokes without any kind of filter. Joe isn't a Stereotype of a guy in a wheelchair, he is just a guy who is doing his best to live with a disability and is constantly mocked and/or assaulted (Like when they hung him from the ceiling via his waist, or just kept pushing him out of the wheelchair) for it.
When people say that nothing should be off limits in Comedy, they often don't think about what that actually means or what it should mean. There are plenty of things that should not be joked about, or should at least be given the proper respect when joked about. As I said before, South Park is a good example of a show that pokes fun at everything, Family Guy is not.

To be fair, Family Guy pokes fun literally everything. Nothing should be off-limits in comedy, as long as the jokes are done properly. Family Guy is essentially about mocking stereotypes by exagerrating them to the point of absurdity.
With BBT, you have a different approach, where the jokes are small and casual, no different to how friends etc will often make fun of each other.
It's not like Western media doesn't treat disability sympathetically. It does so routinely. Dragon Prince being a great example. Amaya's deafness is never even specifically mentioned by the characters, showing that it's not even something they regard as an issue.

This show made me realize just how much better Japan handles disability in media compared to America. Anime in general tends to handle it very well and with sympathy, while also not treating it like some horrible thing that will ruin a person's chance of having a good life. This show and "A Silent Voice" both show the lives of Deaf people really well. One showed the downsides of growing up with the disability and what prejudice that can bring, and one shows a girl who grew up with people who simply helped her and looked out for her, allowing her to live a mostly normal life.
Then you got America where a character's Neuro-divergence or physical disability is often used as the butt of a joke, like in The Big Bang Theory or Family Guy.

Ich werde in Zukunft mit ihm auskommen = I will get along with him in the future
Trying to get friendly with this guy = Ich versuche, mich mit diesem Kerl anzufreunden

I am glad Oushi has turned out to have some layers. I expected him to be a much simpler character.
My reaction to the end was "oh, oh! yes! Now do Emma!"
