I assume you also did not know that Joyboy is a Haitian deity as well?

"No Chopper!" was the most real reaction to one of these episodes.

Do you have any plans to watch Film 6, Baron Omatsuri? It was directed by Mamoru Hosada and it's widely considered one of the best One Piece movies.

Absolutely, the word itself is Germanic in origin. Oda does his research and draws inspiration from all sorts of real world lore.

Also, based on concept art I've seen, Oda had the crew figured out even before the first chapter came out. Details have changed but the structure is there. He's a true master of the long game.

You did make the joke a few episodes ago that if Nami and Chopper didn’t keep their eyes on Zoro he’d end up in the ocean. How does the gift of Apollo feel bestie!🥹

I did know about them, and I'm from Norway (Østfold). I don't think it's widely known, and I think I only knew about them because my dad was a shipwright.

Ussop's VA really went above and beyond. The way his voice breaks while he is overcome with emotion and tears felt so real and raw.

Alicia: "How would one go about adding a new member to the crew without messing up the dynamic?"
By being Oda, that's how. When it comes to characterization or character interaction (or mostly anything, really), the man DOES. NOT. MISS. This isn't the last time you'll be asking yourself that question, and the answer never changes. Oda is the GOAT.

At one point you just gotta come to terms with the reality. The ship is done with. It's time to let it go.

Well, Alicia did ask for this, so here goes. While I am not personally a furry (And I know that makes me sound like the biggest furry), I am a student of fandoms and have a couple of furry friends. So this is what I have picked up over the years. If any actual furries can confirm, add to or deny these, then that would be wonderful.
Furry: The macro term. Mainly refers to people who are into anthropomorphic animals. Be it simply aesthetically, socially, sexually, as a tool of empowerment or all of the above.
Scalie: A furry subgroup of people who are into reptiles, amphibians and dragons.
Avians/Featheries: People who are into birds and bird adjacent creatures. My impression is that it is used far less often than scalie. With most people simply referring to themselves as furry.
Buggies/Crawlies: Allegedly the term for people who are into bugs, arachnids and so on. Haven´t actually met someone who identify as such, so can´t really confirm the validity of it.
From what I remember fish don´t really have their own term, through I have seen some suggest fishies or marine. Through it is rare enough that most people I have seen either refer to them as the specific animal or simply a subgroup of scalies. Have also met at least one person who refereed to them as finns. Overall most people simply refer to themselves as furry, with scalie being the main subgroup to use a specific term. A lot of the others use is either pretty niche or an attempt by someone to put a term to a group, rather than being a term the group uses to refer to themselves.
There are also the monsterfuckers, which refers to people who are into monsters. Such as the creature from The Shape of Water, Medusa, Harpies, Succubus/Demons, Werewolves, Krakens and my Cousin who casually spoils newly released movies in random conversation. While monsterfuckers are often at the very least furry adjacent, it doesn´t necessarily mean they are part of the furry community or consider themselves to be a furry and their taste can also fall far outside of the furry spectrum. But there is a lot of overlap between the two groups.

Do germanic people outside of Germany know about the Klabautermann? As a German, I never knew about these creatures, beyond the name. I live in Bavaria near the Alps tho, so I am as far away as possible from the Klabautermann's territory haha.
Really interesting tho. It's fascinating how Oda is weaving seafaring culture from around the world into the world of One Piece.

Fans: We like the merry!
Oda: Sorry, she can't be fixed anymore.
Fans: What!? But she is one of us! She is like a crewmate!
Oda: Not "like", she IS alive.
Fans: SHE IS!??
Oda: NOT FOR MUCH LONGER *rickrolling song*

Huh, i keep forgetting that non-germanic viewers, or those unrelated to sea fairing, may not be as familiar with the Klabautermann as we are.
Yes, the Klabautermann is a real germanic folktale creature. Similar in appearance to what Franky described, though often times portrayed with a pipe and red hair, they are actually a bit of unruly pranksters, who are know to make quite a bit of noise by throwing old planks and crates around in the ship's belly, hence the name (a very rough tranlation would be "rumbling man" or "noisy man").
They are also know to be experts at sea fairing and said to help with sailing and maintaining ships, though always out of sight of the crew.
While they are mostly good spirited, you usually still don't want to meet one, since they are only visible to the crew once the ship they live on is doomed, so one being with Marry back at Skypiea was already a sing of things to come.
But yeah, they are a really well know folktale around the, area where I come from, and a pretty neat concept in general. I love it that Oda included them in one piece.

There is a theory online that Usopp tells no lies. All of Usopps lies will eventually come true. One example is a tale he told to Kaya. He told about a giant goldfish that pooped out islands. Then they encountered Island Eater on Little Garden, a giant goldfish whose poops are the size of islands.
