He could so easily have been a nothing character, with his brave death in season 1 being his one real defining moment. But it wasn't, and I'm so glad we got this instead.

And speaking of the medium, Filip Shafy is modeled after one of the artists of Invincible, Ryan Ottley. And for a brief second when he mentions the art looking completely different, we cut to a drawing of mark drawn by his other creator, Corey Walker.

Anissa immediately threatened to kill Amber when she first showed up, showing that she and Viltrum by extension, don't give a 🐀 ass about human lives. She helped save the people on the ship in order to try to convince Mark not out of any sense of Viltrumite goodwill and it would actually be incredibly illogical to think that enslaving the earth to genocidal aliens that slaughtered the "weak" of their own kind would be better than what we have now.

I had sort of assumed, kinda like what Alicia was saying, that he got paid like a contractor or something in order to avoid Cecil officially being his boss. I guess looking at the scene again, he might still reimburse him financially, just not with something as stable as a salary, but my initial read was that he didn’t pay him anything at all.

So, if Mark does indeed ask for a salary, Cecil would officially become his boss, meaning he can't blow him off anymore, like he did when he went to save the Thraxan.

Her showing up still made my blood run cold and for a minute i was genuinely expecting her to murder Amber right then and there, even though i knew that didn't happen in the comics. Between the VA's performance and the music building they made her super fucking intimidating.

But then they pretended that it never happened, and had her act like an actual human in season 2, and it makes her so much easier to connect with, and her whole situation with Mark is heartbreaking.

In the comics they did it explaining using the same panels over and over again in comics to save costs. Kirkman didn't know what direction Invincible was going to go while writing the comic over the 10 years so he's able to do things better here. I'm super excited for what is coming.
