You gotta wonder, how did he get so good at killing people?

Yeah, it is pretty much another way of saying halfling, because the Tolkin estate is super sensitive about copyright.
Although in D&d terms they would probably be closer to kender.

half foots are in fact a fantasy race
but instead of being merely just short humans
in this series they are humans that are short, have bigger ears, and tend to look young at every age

Something people have been saying way back when is that Kabru is clearly build for PVP, where Laois is build for PVE.
Kabru is great at reading people (Most of the time), figuring out their motives and killing them. But as we see, constantly gets killed by monsters and quite frankly appear to have pretty bad instincts when it comes to dungeoneering.
Meanwhile Laois... some slight issues when it comes to social interactions, but is absolutely amazing at navigating the dungeon and dealing with the monsters within it.

I think the issue he has is with their judgement, actions and results of both based on the former. It's like how he thinks that the Island Lord is too incompetent to do anything about the corruption that allows for the res scammers to profit. Which huh from what we've seen oh how easy it was for that gnome guy to manipulate the lord. . . He's probably not wrong. In the end, the siblings made a bad judgement call and didn't realize for a long time that they were being taken advantage of which resulted in those people being able to establish themselves as criminals in the Island. He probably has some bias going on there we don't know about yet or something, but also I kind of see why you probably wouldn't want people that are easy to get taken advantage of to become rulers.
