Hisoka: "Why do I feel like I'm not the only one being blue-balled right now?"

Liesmith

Poor Hisoka. The man invested MONTHS of his life carefully infiltrating a cutthroat criminal organization, and his end goal is suddenly yanked out of existence the second his hand approached.

Kurapika can remove them, he confirmed it when they were talking about placing chains around gon and crew's hearts

There's no condition for release or time limit on Kurapika's judgement chains. The one in Pakunoda would have remained around her heart forever if she hadn't triggered it to kill her. I'm not even sure if Kurapika can remove them once they're placed?

I love this conclusion so much, because the whole arc is like an anti-shonen arc. The Phantom Troupe isn't just an espada gallery to be beaten, they're individuals with personalities. Kurapika isn't an underdog that needs to train up and try his best, he's a revenge monster who needs the connections of his friends to keep him grounded. The conclusion isn't a sacrificial drag-out brawl, but a calculated exchange that reveals something about the shared humanity of the characters. For all that, it's one of my favorite stories in anime and I'm blessed for being able to watch you enjoy it. Because I didn't need to spell any of this out for you at all, you get it. The emotional arc of the cast is always at the forefront of your analysis, and it makes me feel a strong kinship cuz' I'm a fucker who loses my shit when a series drops a callback line that completes a thematic arc. -Exile

"Ongoing"... some of the biggest air quotes in history 😭

Only Togashi can make an Arc end on an Anti-Climax and still manage to make it feel satisfying, his writing skills are simply on another level. Hisoka was in such a shock and disbelief that he briefly converted back into his Manga self xdddd. Pakunoda's sacrifice is also another prove of incredible writing... looking at it in retrospective we spend very little time knowing her on a personal level, but through her actions and her relation to the rest of the Troupe the story is able fill the gaps in her character and generate a sense of genuine empathy from the viewer so that way her sacrifice ends having a real emotional impact. But that final scene is what makes her sacrifice and the ending of this arc a masterpiece, even on opposite sides Paku managed to form a connection with Gon and Killua and it's through them that this whole ordeal was able to end with minimal casualties... and Pakunoda was grateful to them for that... not just because they allowed her to save Chrollo but also because thanks to that exchange she was able to die serving the Troupe as a whole and unify them once again by giving them her memories. This is without a doubt one of the most beautiful, melancholic and bittersweet endings of a storyline i have ever witness and i simply love it.
