so what's funny is that someone pointed out that the part where mary breaks at the end is the same damage that Bellamy the Hyena did to the ship cause he heard about the gold that mont blanc cricket cause luffy didn't fight during the bar scene. Bellamy is who made it so mary couldn't be fixed

And like he said, he GENUINELY though she wanted to die. With her existence itself being a problem for the Government, definitely influencing his decision. To hear him join every positive influence in her life, in asking her to live, is heartwarming.

2024-04-24 15:32:48 +0000 UTCfunfact about garp's mask. this actually isn't the first time we saw garp's full design. before one piece as we know it now went into serialization, oda did two prototype one-shots, both titled romance dawn, the eventual chapter title for the first chapter of one piece. in the second of those prototype stories (the one with blue haired nami, not the one with blonde nami), shanks did not exist and it was instead luffy's unnamed grandpa, who in that version was a pirate himself, who was luffy's inspiration to become a pirate, and he was the one who gave him the hat instead. that one shot is the whole reason garp was wearing that weird dog mask up till now. since he reused the design for luffy's grandpa from that one shot for garp, oda didn't want anyone who might have read that one shot to recognize garp as luffy's grandpa, so he made the deliberate decision to hide what garp truly looks like by giving him that mask, until he was ready to reveal the connection himself. which makes the choice of the live action to spoil their relation so early somewhat odd. but yeah, that's the reason why garp used to wear that dog mask, in case you were curious.

(I personally dont mind them I think theyre nice) but just so youre aware / dont feel like youre wasting time or anything
