It's so fascinating to see how Luffy acts a bit less cartoonish in the live-action - he's always cared about his friends, but to openly tell Nami he isn't hungry? To actively clean Zoro's swords while he's unconscious? To refuse Sanji's offer to cook for him? It just brings more realism to the already amazingly 3-dimensional characters, I think.

I've seen so many people burst out crying from it. That scene hits a hundred times harder and better than the anime.

2024-04-25 21:54:20 +0000 UTCso, almost ten years ago, there was a time i was severely lacking sleep possibly due to a cold-turkey xanax/adderall withdrawal, going on a week of no sleep, not having done something like this before (& hopefully /never again) & i called my dad fearing the worst, both anxiety-ridden & exhausted beyond belief. & i hear him crying on the other line while i was with my mom - she had dropped all my college courses for my sake & was there for me the entire way. all of it was soo scary. my dad later told me he was at a korean bbq at the time & i was like, wow, maybe some divine intervention wanted to prepare you for that moment with some good eats. & thankfully i didn died & now want to try doing the same thing alicia does on here

2024-04-25 18:46:05 +0000 UTCas other's somewhere else have pointed out before, while krieg gets shit on a lot for being the weakest villain in one piece (and rightfully so), him not being here does somewhat hurt sanji's development overall. without sanji watching the confrontation between luffy and krieg, as well as zorro and mihawk, and thus him never witnessing first hand that chasing your dream is something worth fighting - and potentually even dying - for, him just suddenly deciding to join the straw hats feels kinda janky. he just goes from "i owe the old man my life and i would do anything to repay him" to "that random kid i just met offered me a place on his crew, so bye". again, i see why they had to do it this way given the constraints of live action, but still feels somewhat clunky.
