I think gon was bashing the Phantom Troupe because they were crying for Uvo but werent able to feel any kind of remorse for killing other people. So the discrepancy. I think

Even the Hunter's Association is basically like "yeah, you can do some pretty heinous shit, but we won't take your license away once you've earned it," and has tests that often SPECIFICALLY REQUIRE killing someone. It seems like the world as a whole just has a much different set of moral values than we do, not just specifically Gon.
