The "he" in "He certainly isn't picky" refers to Hisoka, as in he's not picky about who he battlelusts after, since he just said Kalluto looks appetizing right after meeting

2024-05-26 18:47:00 +0000 UTCI believe the intention with Kalluto is that he is a male who crossdresses. There is an implied reason for this later on involving another character, but saying anymore would be a spoiler.

2024-05-12 21:02:52 +0000 UTCTo add to what others have said about the character, one of the data books describes Kalluto as "将来性豊かな着物少年", or in English, "a kimono wearing boy with a bright future." Apparently the kimono is a type that was considered unisex in the past, so maybe Killua's mother is just really old fashioned? We never hear Kalluto talk about gender, so it's impossible to be sure given how pronouns work in Japanese, but the subtitles definitely use he/him pronouns, so don't feel bad about being confused! I don't think anyone would fault you for using he/him pronouns for the character in this case.
