Straw Hat Episode 376+377

Nothing happened

Zandorgard

The "nothing happened" scene is one of the scenes I am most looking forward to seeing in "The One Piece" remake just to see if Wit does it differently. I remember when I read that chapter for the first time it was definitely not a triumphant feeling like Toei tries to impart with that music. It is supposed to be a super scary bc Zoro's only option was to beg Kuma for mercy and he still barely survived the merciful option that Kuma presented. Like this is supposed to be the "holy shit" moment of realizing even our crew's Enies Lobby level ups are not going to be enough going forward

Nothing... Happened...

Gojo also has the power to repel so i think their teleportation is similar.

As opposed to “Terminating” it

ryan anderson

Nothing happened.

Please, just let her ride out this journey. Merely suggesting something has relevance, especially later one in a story she knows is a thousand episodes long, is saying too much. You think you might be cleverly implying something deep and meaningful without actually giving up any information but you still end up deflating the impact by inserting your own meta knowledge. Just stop.

Gabe Collamer

Now you know why every OP-Fan says that in the Thriller Bark Arc nothing happens.

DanielTheHamster

Already kinda teetering on a little too much there 😅

TheRoguelock

I disagree with the "Zoro knew he would survive" part. He was literally giving himself up for dead, not knowing what Kuma was going to do to him. Kuma could have easily just straight up killed him, as far as Zoro was aware. The power of this scene is that both are willing to sacrifice because they believe that Luffy (as well as the crew that they're saving by giving up one person), is more important than their lives and ambitions. Zoro just decided that he wasn't going to let Sanji be the one to do it. It could easily have gone differently if Oda wanted it to.

TheRoguelock

Editor-San is so real for that

PrivateXimmy

they "Pacify" any threats.

Easy Mode - A.I

I always read it as, they make you the pacifist one way or the other.

Jimmy H Lam

He specifically said he'd never lose a swordfight again IIRC, because he actually already lost against Enel as well, so him being in denial NOW over this loss would make no sense since it'd be his second in a row after Mihawk

Lewd Angel

By "denial" I don't mean wanting to keep Luffy in the dark to protect him. It's about Zoro who objectively lost badly here against Kuma and couldn't protect his captain without begging for mercy. Since Zoro promised to "never lose again" after Mihawk, this loss seriously hurt his pride and therefore "nothing happened" = "I'll ignore this shameful loss".

leviathan_13

It's not Denial in my opinion. It genuinely is him being kind to his best friend in the whole world. Luffy is really a good boy, almost dog like in devotion. It would hurt Luffy more to know Zoro put himself up onto the chopping block instead of selling himself out; we all know if given that choice which he would chose. So Zoro not wanting Luffy to live with that burden just let him be ignorant, because I would wager he would then order Zoro that next time, they all get out or the Captain gets left behind.

Jimmy H Lam

"Kaizokuou ni, ore wa Naru!" ? No love?

Jimmy H Lam

Free compliments in the comments below: you a real one fr fr, also i really like your singing voice when you bust out a tune in some of your reactions. A cover of loser baby with you and rich would be dope ngl.

Kieren

I mean they think they are delivering justice to people who deserve it. Maybe there are a few bad apples in the bunch that do bad shit but that probably isn't what everyone in the Navy want to do. I think the Navy tries to be as just as they can. It's just that we see a lot of those people that aren't the most just in what they are doing.

Josh Newerth

Then again, this coming from the same people who have “Justice” on the backs of their uniforms, even when they’re gunning down civilians.

unknown organism

Pacifista is a cruelly ironic name for a war machine from the World Government, but in a far distant episode you will find out the depressing truth about the Pacifistas. I'm not going to say any more.

De L

Exactly, but she's convinced otherwise.

TTJek

Weird that nothing happened after that Pawmehameha.

Okoga

And hearts

Jimmy H Lam

Jet fuel can't melt steel beams... BUT KUMA CAN

Timmetry

I don't think Pacifista are meant to be pacifists, I think they are meant to pacify everyone that opposes the goverment. That's how I see it at least.

Josh Newerth

I agree with MeonTee's take on the "nothing happened" moment: the anime made us look at it as a moment of triumph, thanks to the music, but in reality, it's one of the lowest points of Zoro. Him saying "nothing happened" is not Zoro being tough, he is in denial.

leviathan_13

Nothing happened!!

Sam Marsh

Best One piece quote I always hear, NOTHING HAPPENED.

Christo Badenhorst

Omg your suggestion for Franky to be the one to take all of Luffy's pain was hilarious. Franky been on the crew for maybe a week, STEP UP BITCH TIME TO TAKE ALL OF LUFFY'S PAIN

SomeoneElse

I've never heard someone say "doeses" before. That caught me off guard lmaoo

SomeoneElse

Nothing happened. (except Azu getting a pay cut)

V_VMat

Nothing happened

HeavenlyNoomba

I don't know all the hype - episode 377 was so uneventful, nothing even happens...

Silver Blade

Nothing happened, indeed

Pockets

Pacifista stems from the term "pacification" which is the act of creating or maintaining peace usually through threats or force, rather than "pacifist" which is kind of the opposite. I suppose you could use "pacify" in a "pacifistic" manner for example "The diplomat negotiated a treaty to pacify the hostile nation", but the term typically has an aggressive connotation such as "The military force pacified the rebellion."

Shane

at 42:10 I understood that reference

WindWarriorPlays

47:38 Oda confirmed Zoro died but his soul got lost and returned to his body

Trevor Appel

Crazy how nothing happened this episode

Kyle Necker

the government is calling him a pacifista, not he himself. nothing happened

Draconic

welcome to thriller bark, the arc where nothing happened. also, as others have pointed out, this scenes really highlights the difference between sanji and zoro. sanji was willing to take luffy's place, because he believes his life doesn't matter and he was willing to sacrifice himself (just as he was willing to give up on his dream to repay zeff or just as he gladly let himself get swallowed by that avalanche to protect luffy and nami back at drum), zoro was willing to take luffy's place, because he knows he is the only one woh can live through it and survive. both are willing to take on all of luffy's burdens onto themselves, they just have a very different mentally as to why.

JHow

Love that moment and love Kuma's fruit it can repel anything

Icy

Why's everyone freaking out. Nothing happened in this arc

Nanogerm

I'm crying! It's so called for, yet it hurts so much, but when it comes down to it, nothing happened.

Gurth-Quake

nothing happened

nick bunston

Anzu made nothing happen, respect.

Kazukima

You have witnessed one of the memes we tell to new readers and watcher. That nothing happens in thriller bark.

Matt Granger

that son of bish lol

james blaire

Zoro's just like "This conversation isnt big enough for 2 suicidal people"

Cole Savoie

nothing happened

KuroOberon

Editor being a cryptic bitch

Ranginald Vagel

Robin's thoughts are the cutest thing. Its like since enies lobby she allows herself to be a kid again, at least in mind

Cole Savoie

Now, the question is, did Zoro save Sanji because he actually cares about him and takes his role as a "protector" of the crew deadly serious, or did he save Sanji because he knows Luffy would never be able to become the King of the Pirates without a cook capable of keeping him away from the fridge with force? A question for the ages. But damn, I love that moment. It´s so fucking great. Something I didn´t know, as I haven´t seen this complete arc in anime form before, is that they fucking end the episode on Kumas explosion. Imagine being one of the people who had to wait a week for the resolution to that.

Ebofa

Hahaha i can tell you for a massive fact he is not asleep he is awake laughing through his alt account 😆 🤣. And he is about to do the thousand yard stare once the sun rises and your by his bed with a bat

Hypnogc xxx martian

Nothing happened Alicia!

BewearKing64

Prof. Walker

Remeber, nothing happened in this video

FireFist500

Remember everyone....nothing happened

DrewSB

Yeah. Thing about Paramecia fruits? Sure they're the most common, but when they're taken to the limits in the hands of a capable user, they become the most batshit, insane, TERRIFYING powers in this series

DrewSB

what power do i poses? I was just thinking i could really use some Alicia One Piece reations xD
