Magellan hit him too fast b/c he didn't want to deal with him and wanted to get to Luffy. Blackbeard didn't take him seriously enough. His luck is on par with Luffy's.

He's the only Logia that can't just phase through attacks. Still, you're right Alicia. Blackbeard SHOULD have been able to absorb all that poison. Maybe it would've still hurt him? Maybe Magellan's attack was clearly faster in the Manga. I don't remember. (I don't trust the Anime's pacing, even for little moments like that)

Also, if you look back to the episode where garp talked about shanks and the other 3 pirates at his level of strength, you can see that one of them is actually a woman.

2024-06-24 10:32:54 +0000 UTCI realised that you got a bit confused with the Emperors and Warlords so here's a little summary: The current Emperors are Whitebeard, Shanks, Kaido and an unnamed character. While their main influence is in the New World, they can still travel to the first half of the Grandline and have influence there. Their power and influence effectively makes them the top 4 pirates in the world. The current Warlords: Boa, Blackbeard, Mihawk, Moria, Kuma, Doflamingo and Jinbe. Most of their influence is in the first half of the Grandline but they also have an effective network in the New World. These 7 allied with the Navy act as a force to balance the influence of the Emperors. Without the Warlords, the Navy wouldn't have enough power to "control"/have influence over the Emperors.

2024-06-24 08:40:11 +0000 UTCas i mentioned before, a good rule of thumb for who is a warlord, is that except for jinbe (who is a fish-man), and now blackbeard, all warlords have animal themed names: miHAWK, sir CROCODILE, bartholemew KUMA (kuma = bear), doFLAMINGO, gecKO MOria (komori = bat), BOA hancock. as for the yonko (or four emperors), they were stated to be shanks (as mentioned by garp), kaido (as mentioned by moria), whitebard (as mentioned all throughout this arc) and .... i don't think we know the fourth's name yet, so i'm gonna hold of on that.

I don't think there's anyone in the entire prison right now that could stand toe to toe with him if he really went all out. The man could probably become an admiral pretty easily if he wanted to.

They either accepted the position because they knew they were too weak to fight the Navy themselves and it was better to have their bounties suspended, or because they wanted the privileges that come with working for the government as privateers. Boa Hancock doesn't care about the status of Warlord, but her being a Warlord means the government won't attack Amazon Lily. If she stepped down, the Navy could Buster Call the island. Hundreds of marines would die, but they'd win eventually. The Four Emperors are pirates who are strong enough that they don't even need to negotiate with the Navy to protect their territories. Ace is one dude in Whitebeard's army and the Navy's leadership has spent over a week focusing on nothing but how they're going to execute him because fighting one Emperor is that big of a deal for them.

The way he's lecturing Luffy of all people about the terror of pirates only to be blindsided by THE most piratey pirate in the entire show is great writing. I appreciate his ultimatum!

Also, we ALL stan Jimbei. btw, the Jinbei/Jimbei thing is the same as senpai/sempai, it's just a weird rule of transcribing japanese into the latin alphabet that's not used everywhere. Either way, it's always pronounced Jinbei.
