HxH Ep 118+119

DANG

HxH Ep 118+119

I didn't mean to argue against having the introspection, but IMHO this style of narration worked better in the manga, not so much in the anime. That's simply due to the difference between the two mediums.

It's pure slugfest this arc. Everyone's reason for living or dying is on full display and it all connects. Our characters aren't warriors, they're speedbumps against overwhelming power.

On the flip side... if there wasn't that much introspection... every encounter and hurdles that all the characters have wouldn't feel as impactful or relevant. If the show didn't spend so much time fleshing out every character's thought process and internal struggles then the viewers could end up thinking stuff like "Go back to Gon and Killua" or "I want to see Netero and Meruem's fight already". The only part about the argument of "it goes on unnecesarily long" i agree on is Morel and Pouf's encounter inside Smoky Jail, but outside of that i think everything else is given the proper amount of time (in my opinion).

Julio Castillo

Not me, that's the type of episode that.... it's impressive, yes.... but also hard to watch. It's an experience that i will never forget... but i will always dread having to watch it once again.

you do get the fact that morel knows nothing and his job is to keep pouf away from the king and thats why hes not fighting, right? xD

It's always interesting to see people's reaction to this part of the arc. While it seems that prior to the operation the idea seemed to be to have the group break up to have a slugfest with the Royal guards, it turns out the whole point is to buy time. Instead the arc turns into a match of wits where all the hunters groups are fighting uphill battles. Meaning they can't really take any major damage without dying or hurt the royal guards because they are honestly just the stronger force. I like it, all the parallel storytelling and character interactions make the arc so good. However I can understand people not liking or being annoyed by the pacing as they feel "nothing is happening" because of the "it's been ____ amount of minutes" stuff. I would argue A LOT has happened within the episodes, just at a pace where it would be a jumbled mess if it was at "normal speed". Just my thoughts.

WonderingSoul

Yeah it definitely was not a tire he shot out.

The fact that we are juggling between multiple fights that are all happening nearly simultaneously is part of the reason for the feeling of "dragon ball time". So the last 6 episodes are basically the same two on repeat. The moments are also deliberately stretched out and with much introspection that certainly doesn't help with that. How to handle this properly is up to the author (or well, the director in the case of the anime) and I agree that, as a whole, this part suffers. So your complaints are well founded.

I think he shot up one of the drive wheels within the tank's treads.

Lexi

You missed the part where the narrator explained that the cocoon was just a distraction while Pouf’s “scales” escaped the smoke.

I've heard it said that the Chimera Ant arc has some of the highest highs and the lowest lows in HxH, and I think you guys are getting that by this point.

tellurium_allure

Alicia, you missed the fact that the reason Morel hasn't attacked is because his job isn't to fight Pouf it's to keep him in one spot and away from the King. Thats the main objective of everyones mission, to hold the Royal Guards THERE and let Netero handle the King.

MaskedRider

Is anyone else here waiting for 131

Cynical_POV

Morel isn't supposed to fight Pouf, just keep him away from the King. Technically the fight that has to happen is Netero VS King, everyone else is to keep the guards away from the fight.

Randomocity732

So, anyway, Bloster (munchybowl's brovada) the lobster started blostin'
