2024-08-03 03:07:40 +0000 UTCtheir Okama which is a Japanese concept that's somewhere between tans and drag. plus man has been isolated from anyone with even a semblance of similarity of sexuality or identity as him with no internet or even letters and constantly sexually harassed more than a woman of the 1950s by people who are so far from anything he has an interest in it makes him physically sick. Trans stuff is for later, Okama get a lot of respect in the story, to normalise it they need that and disrespect in equal amounts oda also has editors and higher-ups, he can't entirely write whatever he wants.

2024-08-03 02:59:54 +0000 UTCNot gonna lie, the way Sanji keeps saying "real women" bothers me because it reminds me so much of TERF-speak. I know that's not intentional and I'm not saying this to rag on Sanji or Oda. It's just something that bothers me personally. On the subject though, I see people get super defensive of Sanji's time in the Kamabakka Kingdom, to the point that I don't think they actually want to address the problems with it. People will say "they're not trans, they're drag queens," but I question that since they all seem to live as women 24/7, and the narrator even describes it as "an island where everyone has the heart of a maiden," which is pretty much literally the Japanese way of describing trans women; people will say "it's cultural differences between Japan and the west," but there have been manga that handled LGBTQI+ topics better before these chapters of One Piece existed. It doesn't stop me from enjoying One Piece. One Piece is probably my favorite manga of all time at this point, and I think it's going to be a masterpiece when it's completed. And I think Oda's heart is in the right place, and that however distasteful some of his depictions have been, he's always made sure the LGBTQI+ characters are on the side of good and freedom--allies to Luffy, and literal revolutionaries on the world stage. But I wish people wouldn't straight up deny that some of this stuff can still make trans people uncomfortable, and that it's okay for us to feel that way.

They literally have to explain that is a joke so then IT CAN BE FUNNY. if they didnt do that, then isnt supposed to be funny... basically the opposite from occident, when we have to explain that something isnt a joke (usually "no kidding", "not joking") and that if you 'explain the joke' then isnt funny anymore Thats why brook always ads up the phrase about him being a skeleton, if he didnt, then he isnt joking, so it mostly be depressing yohohohoho~!

That mattered because I could hear the 'infernal drilling' loud and clear through my walls, no matter what floor they were on. 7am - 4pm every. fkin. day. I woke in shock a few times because I wasn't expecting have loud a f drilling as my alarm.. so yea, I get you and I hope they're done soon :o
