Gravity Falls 1x20

finale!!!

Gravity Falls 1x20

Comments

17:40. I wish someone would tell me I'm a good man-child like grunkle stan

Easy Mode - A.I

I went to stay with my grandparents every summer 2 states away from 7-15. Its not that odd. Airlines even have chaperones for minors flying alone. Sometimes families want to be close without actually being close.

Rinnzu Rosendale

This is true. The whole setup for this show was based on creator Alex Hirsch's own real life experiences, where, as a child, he and his actual twin sister, Ariel, would spend their summers with their great-aunt (or "graunty" as they called her) at her cabin in Gold Hill, Oregon, home of the Oregon Vortex a roadside mystery attraction.

DeadlyDangerRanger

It’s not that weird for the kids to be here. It isn’t entirely uncommon for things like this. Stuff doesn’t have to be wrong at home for you to spend the summer with someone, I went to Texas to stay with my aunt Krystal just because it was the only time I ever got to see them, since working out visit times was hard outside of holidays, and my family was just big chilling. It’s just a thing that happens sometimes.

Jacob Harmon

Did Alicia really not notice that when Stan shook Gideon that the number 2 journal fell out and then the deed and Stan reached down for both?

Daisy Azuras

I own acres, and acres of land and all I have is a small house on it most of it for my horsey walk around

Daisy Azuras

ngl i had that feeling for a while when the show first aired. Happy to to know i was right on the money. (Sometimes family problems can be too much on the kids so its best if they went to see a realitive until things are sorted out.)

Zachary Provenzano

most epic season ending ever! But at least in the top 10.

Adam Rak

There was a recent book released that had some hints about what was going on with Dipper and Mabel’s parents. Wouldn’t read the book until you’ve finished the show, but (not spoilers for anything in the show) it implies that things back home… aren’t great

J

yeah don't you remember? he gave waddl.. I mean Soos a pay raise. : ) Stan seems the kind of guy that understands the value of a dollar. He knows Soos does a good job so is worth the money.

YukoValis

Who knows maybe the parents are working on another sibling for the twins

Az256

Dipper and Mabel are only there for the summer. Their parents just wanted them to have some fresh air during the summer.

subject nerdam

31:47 you got a Blendin Blandin cameo, on the left side by the overturned car~

Simulacrae

Ohhhhhh, yeah your right that makes so much more sense.

T Payne

You know.... as much of a cheapskate as Stan is, this does imply he actually pays Soos pretty damn well given Soos had to take up multiple other jobs to replace that lost income.

Seraphem

yea i kind of get what you mean, but also, they sent their kids to spend the summer with Stanford Pines. if you watched the series then you'll understand what I'm getting at. anything else is spoiler territory

Chris Foley

I mildly question the parents sending the twins to Stan just because context clues would imply they're not close or familiar with him. I always figured Stan would be distant for reasons explained later. Sending kids to hangout with a close relative for a summer, especially if the parents don't want them unsupervised while they work is normal to me. Sending them to a shady, distant relative with minimal way to contact home? That had me side eyeing a bit.

T Payne

Are you going to watch the specials from between season 1 and 2?

Martin Mcfly

Parents sometimes send their kids to their grandparents for summer, it's a Northwest thing.

Rat #41

Just don't make us wait 2 years like the show did, lol.

Gildarts1#fan

is it funnier if the squirrel bath may just be that one nome thing seeing how he said "this is a nome thing"

Sleeping Cat Studios

Buckle up, because now the real fun begins (and I don’t mean that as a slight against Season 1 because the whole series is fun and awesome).

BakaSama

I'm not sure if you've been seeing the cracked ciphers at the end of every episode but I highly recommend as it would be cool to see you theorize using them as they are more important in Season 2. Plus it would be a good way for you to experience what made the show so special when it was initially airing.

Brenden Miranda

@Miguel Soares so you’re both kinda right. Believe the initial plan was 3 seasons, but Hirsch burned himself out going through season 1 so much that he didn’t want to continue even despite ending things on a cliffhanger. He was convinced to do another season, but was adamant on finishing the show by the end of season 2.

Robert

We had a YEAR break on that cliffhanger between the end of S1 and S2. You're lucky you get to binge this lmao

Cam Maccoll

Congratulations Alice, you won't have to wait 2 years to see the second season like many of us in the fandom did.

Pau Santos

Jesus Alzamirano "Soos" Ramirez ( Yes, that is his full name. It's been confirmed ).

Alexander Saldivar

I feel like you are getting mixed up. Alex always had 2 seasons planned, Disney wanted him to continue the series past season 2 but he was adamant on only making 2 seasons since he had a clear that he wanted to tell.

Miguel Soares

I thought that was Star Vs FOE?

Katt

Even before the book of Bill stuff I find it odd that people are questioning as to why they were sent away to live with Stan at all. Like my mom would send me to other relatives to visit during the summer some times and there wasn't really any explicit any reason other then to "hey you must be bored just staying in the house during the summer is there any places you want to go/visit" and she couldn't really afford to send both of us. That was all I took from that, And as for why Stan specifically its clear from the phone call this episode that they trusted him enough to have the kids over so they aren't really bad parents for trusting someone in the family they know.

TrueWarriorJak

Absolutely Love this series. I would highly recommend watching the shorts before season 2 but they arn't 100% Necessary. At the very least I'd watch the first set titled Dippers Guide to the Unexplained. Can't wait to see more from this series!

Fluorescent Opal

The founder of Gravity Falls, the 8th and a half president, instituted what is basically a "possession is 100% of property" law. Since Gideon possesses the deed, he owns it.

Geoffrey of Monmouth

That was a real episode of American dad

Miroslav Radev

Also in reference to the parents sending dipper and mabel to stan. Did you not go spend summers with relatives? I used to go see my aunt for entire summers growing up just to get away and have my own little vacation when i was younger than dipper and mabel. Its nothing going on just that they want them to spend time together and also probably get a break themselves. ETA: they live in california so it was an out of state visit as well. They get to have a fun adventure and stan gets to connect with his family that they probably dont see too much.

Immeasurably Me

Whats crazy is that the deed has stans name on it so theres no world in which a cop shouldnt be removing gideon. It absolutely looks like he just stole it. If stan gave it to him they wouldve had to sign it over and the name would be changed

Immeasurably Me

FYI, Alex Hirsch didn't plan on making a season 2, so that's how the SERIES was going to end.

ShreddedNinja

I never noticed when Stan hits the cop car you can see the time traveler guy in the back

mdxpck

If you love Gravity Falls' continuity, you're gonna' love and hate Steven Universe. They once had a staff member dedicated to tracking continuity. Then they let them off. Then the rest of the show happened.

N00B

Love this show. So excited for Season 2!

Darkendreign

I think the proper term for a Gideon Gundam is a Gididam.

Ebofa

My mind went to the Anchorman clip. “I love…lamp”

Robert

ahh yes the staring at an object (Lamp) to think of a name. I've done that a couple times in dnd when I couldn't think of a name like "Um yes his name is um.....Case...oh a sur name....Booking...ton....so this is Case Bookington"

TLKDesu

end credits codes, please don't post answer. These codes you can do yourself. A=1 Z=26 etc. (A1Z26 cipher) "18-5-22-5-18-19 20-8-5 3-9-16-8-5-18-19." "5-19-23-6-21-16 18-9-6 4-16-19 22-12-15-10-20-19-25-19." There are more hidden. There is always more hidden..

YukoValis

Yeah, never read the book myself, only heard it from the internet. I really hoped they worked it out.

PUFFOSGAMING

wher's the "lamp" sauce

Chamoun101

Yeah, they don't tell you in the show, but in the ancillary books, it's revealed that their parents are getting around to divorce. Yikes.

Marion Ette

i didnt knew that about the moisturizer my mom always told me to put it on my face im 31 now now i have to try moisturizer damn lol

Alejandro Villalobos

We have many times seen stan drive tourists around his property. He also had an entire carnival on his land

Lightinger

Book of Bill spoilers I will say they weren’t explicit about it being marital problems directly. They could have been arguing about a financial situation or something similar. Either way, it’s issues they’d rather not have Dipper and Mabel deal with while they work it out over the summer. I just hope they worked it out.

Robert

They don't really explain this in the show but rather in a book called "the book of bill", if you plan to read it don't read this comment further (and if this comment is considered spoiler I would not mind it being deleted)! They actually explain the whole parent thing of why they sent them away in "the book of bill", Mabel and Dipper's parents were arguing at home (marital issues and all that) and they didn't want them to constantly hear it so they sent them to Stan for the summer. Pretty depressing fact, they reveal a lot of lore in comics and books.

PUFFOSGAMING

Plea once more to watch the Gravity Falls shorts before starting season 2. They’re on Disney Plus, listed as Gravity Falls Shorts. They’re 17 2-minute shorts that aired sporadically after season 1 but before season 2 officially aired a year later.
