"You absolute buffoon! I AM THE LOUD ENVIRONMENT!"

Akane is like 8 and is reading college psych books lol. What a hater.

Heh. That's why Kana x Akane and Aqua x Therapy are the true OTPs. (let me have my delusions, okay?)

Darkwing Duck

15:00 I believe Kana is acting this way because this is the start of her aging out as a child actor. Her prospects for jobs are drying up and she feels humiliated accepting roles purely for her recognition instead of her ability. After learning psychology, Akane likely figured out that the time she met her idol, Kana had already lost the spark that made her come to idolize her. Akane's goal is clearly to bring back the true Kana she idolized and finally become friends with her.

Imagine being so utterly obsessed with a girl that you (as a 5 year old or something) spend years reading psychological theory to try and understand her better. And then decide to forge yourself into her equal, her adversary, rejecting everything she is for the person you think she should be. Like my god Akane. There are legitimately "dark yuri" manga with characters less unhinged than her.

That silence in the middle of the monologue was incredible. At first, I thought Akane was a little crazy, but then I thought, wait let her cook. (Still she's a little crazy)

Accel

In a way, it's even deeper than that. Akane is putting out "You're doing it WRONG" vibes and Kana is picking up on it. This episode confirmed to me that the feeling is entirely intentional. Akane's desperate to reach her in a rival's way, and Kana has been rejecting it subconsciously from the start.

Hawk

I love that Akane tried to empathize with Kana as to the reason why, instead of going down a much darker path. Both of them genuinely love acting & seeing Akane wanting to bring the best out of Kana, for her to shine, is everything.

CarbonDog

What Kana doesn't like about Akane's acting is that it reminds her of the "look at me" acting Kana used to do, as Akane states "I can do it myself to a degree now" and Kana doesn't like her own past acting since she feels it was the reason her jobs were drying up and she resorted to the "make others shine" acting she does now.

WhopsInc.

Akane's relationship with Kana is super fun. They're rivals, both in acting and both having a crush on Aqua, they both have reasons for being frustrated with each other about their acting style, though I don't really get what about Akane's acting Kana doesn't like, she always just says Akane believes her style of acting is correct? Which, I'm hoping they explain since they haven't really made it clear what Kana means by that, is she talking about the way Akane gets so deep into her character? I kinda doubt that since she's never acted like her doing that makes her a superior actor. My gusss is it's how Akane wants to be in the spotlight and wants Kana to do the same, and since Kana believes in stepping aside for the sake of the production, that could be it. Akane does show in this episode she really hates Kana's style of dumbing down her acting for the sake of the performance. They're both some of my favorite characters in the series, I'm hoping next episode develops Kana a bit more, and hopefully helps her overcome some her character flaws.
