I'm just going to assume that Hordey's increasingly irrational decisions like publicly admitting he killed the Queen (Thus removing the biggest narrative talking point for his Anti-Human movement) and not just killing the Princess on the spot(whom he stated was the biggest threat to his plans with her powers) so he could stroke his own ego was the result of his sanity rapidly deteriorating due to the massive amount of Drugs he ingested breaking down in his body, causing him to go maniacal.

It's not my favorite either, but it's got some great characters and moments, sets up cool stuff for later in the series, and serves it's purpose as a showcase of the Straw Hat's strength. Hordy and his crew were never a real threat, they were an excuse for Oda to say "Let me show you what they can do now."

2024-08-17 23:39:12 +0000 UTCI need more Sound Effects-only recaps :P That was wonderful xD I love getting Luffy's perspective on Heroes here. He *genuinely* likes Heroes, and thinks they're cool. But he has so much respect for how they *should* act, that he has no interest in being one. It's a great little insight into part of his motive for becoming a Pirate. Especially when you think about how often the Straw Hats DO save people & kingdoms. Luffy clearly likes being able to CHOOSE who he saves and who he fights, for no other reason than "I wanted to". It's also a great little perspective to add to the endless Hero Academia question: "What makes a Hero?"
