Funfact: in the NEW book that released this year by the GF creator, it is said that one info was missing to be put in the episode that was supposed to be the plotwist finale of it, being that love potions just cause infatuation and only last 3 hours, and that if the couple stick together is because they truly love each other The scene was supposed to be that when mabel didnt spray them, dipper get both bottles to gave them back and then read the label on the love potion and realize that mabel actually did a good match on them, but then they had to decide between this scene and the piñata thompson, because "time" and it was more important to reagroup the gang

I disagree, I think a lot of it is a result of cancellation but they did VERY well at making a REALLY good story despite the cancellation and Lumity and the LGBT rep is hardly the main thing driving it imo.

On the Koma story: Being the butt of the joke always hurts less with consent. While inoffensive jokes do exist, its just easier to base it off a subject and being that subject yourself means nobody gets hurt and everyone has a good time. Plus, it can be cathartic. Your own mind already says way worse things to you than what random strangers could. And when you realise that some of those things may be true, it opens the possibility of dealing with that flaw and improving yourself. Also: Rich should give you piggy-back-rides.

Regardless of how temporary the potion turned out to be, the fact that Mable drugged them without their knowledge or consent, and they never find out, skeeves me tf out. Ethically speaking, this is why I refuse to accept Mable apologia. Like, yeah, she's literally a kid, but she basically date raped them, and I'm not okay with that being unresolved and excused by the showrunners and fans both. Easily my least favorite episode. The episode would have been so much better if either the potion expired or Mabel used the anti-potion, but Tambry and Robby still stayed together because the potion just ended up acting like an actual matchmaker. They still end up as a functional couple but there are no bad implications.

Honestly, I feel like Owl House's representation was its biggest strength. Compared to Gravity Falls especially its main plot feels underwhelming, but everything regarding Lumity was cute, realistic and interesting.

The Owl House made great strides with LGBT representation (Lumity will always be in my heart), but Alex Hirsch found that Disney wasn’t ready for that kind of leap at the time,as he originally planned the elderly couple Love God matched to be women, but the execs refused. On a lighter note, the “I EAT KIDS” balloon is probably my favourite gag in the series, as I always laugh my head off in that scene. Lastly, thank you Gravity Falls, for showing us the awe-inspiring love that could only exist between a goat and a pig.
