I mean every time I’ve heard that “Quirked up white boy” line the person saying it was being very sarcastic so I just have a negative connotation for the whole phrase. Also while quirky and unique may not inherently be insults they are very susceptible to tone and growing up parents and family often used it as a replacement for worse words so I have a very negative personal association with the word.

Killian_Jones_Hook

White guys are not used to compliments. They don't know how to handle positive feedback. Recommend starting small like capability of making decent smash potatos.

Rat #41

IIRC Hirsch said this episode was meant to be earlier in the season pre-ford or even in season 1. I can't remember what was important enough they decided to add it in anyway, though I believe it was just 'hey we need more time to do some episodes' cause of the weird stuff happening. So a lotta people felt this was out of place and bad because of timing. Which would make sense.

The Force

With that quirked up white boy rant, does she not have a reaction the maxors elden ring video?

Crimson wolf

Eda x Grunkle stan was confirmed in one of the books where tjere is literally a pocture of jis ex-wife, who he attempted to scam, but she scammed him instead Here's the picture of the book and is official, made by alex hirsch, creator of GF, who is also the voice of King in TheOwlHouse https://x.com/farothfuin/status/1822351006002229531?t=LQHevLza5n01MHRcSNL2dw&s=19

Faroth

It US confirm3d in the new book, where there's literally a picture of stan an eda's wedding in las vegas

Faroth

No, people are fine with you celebrating white cultural heritage as long as it's separated from bigotry- when people criticize "whiteness" and "white pride", it's not hating on someone for celebrating their Dutch heritage, it's about the exclusionary bigotry of "they're not really white" (see history of Italian and Irish immigrants, and this kind of sentiment still remains in many groups) and the behavior/rhetoric associated with (the sad prevalence) of white supremacy hate groups (any racial or cultural supremacy movement should be met with the same vitriol) If you have people in your life that act bigoted towards you for just being white, you need to hang out around better people

Valentine

Naming your kid Jr is literally the same thing tbh

Robert

Alicia's first daughters name will be: Alicia 2: electric boogaloo.

I saw the message of the episode more as be careful of what you teach and about honesty. Cause you can talk to girls without leading them on or faking falls interest. Friendship between boys and girls is completely possible, so the issue wasn't that dipper flirted it was that he lied. If he hadn't lied no one would have gotten hurt. Be careful about what you teach causr gruncle stan was definitely in the wrong. Kids and teens don't have the same mental maturity as adults, so it's very easy for them to misinterpret things. So it's very important what you teach and the way you phrase things. Also no matter your initial goals, hurting other people's feelings is not ok. It's ok if you wanna learn how to talk to girls, but that's doable without hurting anyones feelings.

Lektro

It objectively is a slur. I'd love to see an argument for how it isn't, because I can disprove it with a thing called historical reference. If you want, I can even go in-depth on how the origins of the word makes it a derogatory slur. Up to you.

Loink

I'm autistic too and I feel the same way. Also, jesus christ, do I wish Quirky was what I was getting called in school for it

ShinyC4terpie

On Alicia dating advice segment: I've been given similar advice on confidence up front, but I didn't know what I should be confident about, and it felt like false advertising and trying to pull one over on the lady by "tricking" them into thinking I'm different than I am. So I've never really learned the lesson xD

holycobra

Did you just call cracker a slur? Terminally Online: Confirmed

Sam Brown

This is honestly my least favorite episode of Gravity Falls, and the only one I view as a bad one. The moral is supposed to be that it isn't okay to go after women and view them as objects to satisfy yourself, but that is not at all how it is portrayed with either Stan or Dipper. With Stan, it was very clearly a fling with no strings attached, and with Dipper, it was to boost his confidence. He pretty reasonably didn't think he was ever going to see any of these girls(except for Candy) ever again, and it really comes across as an act of God moment when they all just so happened to be in the same place at the same time. With Candy, it was very clearly one-sided perpetrated by Candy, and Dipper wasn't comfortable with her. Yet she kept pushing herself onto him and making things even more awkward. If the roles were reversed, I think people would have much more of a problem with a Dipper pushing himself onto a Candy who wanted nothing to do with him. And what Stan was teaching Dipper was not bad-as Alicia mentioned, hookups aren't bad as long as they are consenting(although we can question teaching children about hookups, but that was not what the episode was focused on). Plus, Dipper really needed the confidence and to move on from Wendy. It really comes across as the writers had a poorly thought-out agenda that they wanted to push for this episode, and wanted to push fear into any young boys with the spider lady's comment about always having a meal as long as there were men who used women. It's just an out of nowhere meanspirited message that really caught me by surprise on my first viewing.

Loink

That's rich coming from a person using a slur that was SPECIFICALLY made to call white people out for acting black. I am not reducing ANYONE to their race. My problem is the hypocrisy of people in this community for shaming Silver Blade for having absolutely valid complaints about being reduced to his race. Such behavior should never be tolerated in a community that prides itself on inclusivity.

Loink

The only people reducing people to their race are you.

N00B

This thread is so cringe. Being reduced to your race is something that everyone faces. And yet it's only okay because you're white? So much for being inclusive when you'll treat minorities by their character but reduce white people to their race on a whim. Also gross how comfortable people here are with using racial slurs with hateful connotations on you which just feeds back to what I said before. Those guys in particular are cringe. Reducing people to their race is shameful, but what is even more shameful is condemning people for taking issue with that. It was frustrating to see Alicia not recognize that as that was my issue with what she said(and I'm sure others did too). You are incredibly valid in your complaints, and ignore what these people tell you.

Loink

I'm autistic and I dont get what people are saying when they say quirky is a bad thing like what! it has nothing to do with cringe or diagnosis or anything LOL Anybody can be quirky and it's a based thing!

Middyrose

Speaking of being in the spectrum I have to CONSTANTLY remind my coworkers that it’s not A FUCKING ILLNESS their all old but dear god they treat people on the spectrum at work as if their sic or can’t do things by themselves ONE OF EM IS AN OPERATOR LIKE WHAT!?

Az256

I mean, that sounds like a Stand power right there!

Quinton Macejkovic

Okay, real talk; I can confirm that coyotes Can sound like that.

Chris White

Alex Hirsch said in response to Dipcifica that they're too young for romance, which I would totally respect if it weren't for the fact that half the episodes of the show have a romance subplot lol.

Munir

I've heard a few people hate/complain about this episode because by and large it is a side story to the main plot that is now ramping up. But honestly I love this episode because it is a time for the family and friends to have some fun. It kind of raps up a bit of the emotion. Also Ford got all of last episode, so it is nice to have a more Stan focused episode.

YukoValis

As a Dipcifica fan, this episode was torture. How can they set up this whole thing between them in that one episode, yet not mention her once in the episode dedicated to Dipper finding someone new 😭. Tho tbf I think I did hear somewhere that the creators didn’t think of them that way until they saw the fans shipping them, which they then responded to by giving us more dipcifica content in the books and stuff. Regardless, I’m starving lol

SpookeaBea 🍂

I'm quirky and some people just think I'm livin' in a whole 'nother world cuz they don't understand humor with more than one layer and don't even bother getting to actually know me. I've been to groups where everyone other than the one person who knew me thought I was his super weird friend.... Or maybe I am? Does anyone relate? ..... Damn sry for venting here 😅😅

Benedikt Spálovský

I know you asked whether someone would want to fuck a racist. But 2 of my normal lines are "Fuck Racism" and "Fuck Racists", it might be changing up the meaning a bit, but it isn't that wrong.

Miklar Sihn

One cracker to another, you're not winning this.

N00B

i prefer to be called pretty fly for a white guy

KuroOberon

The name of the video is Eda is Grunkle Stan’s Ex-Wife | Gravity Falls meets the Owl House

Alexc0520

Thanks for the heads up

Alexc0520

That's a lot to expect from a 12 year old boy that's being surrounded by multiple people. Couple that with the fact he was just starting to build some confidence with people, there's no way he could think that through. It's funny, I think dipper would have had an easier time being surrounded by monsters than girls.

Sam Smith

I’m pretty sure, as far as I understand it anyway, the “quirked up” phrase just fell out of fashion and now it’s tacky. Lived it’s natural lifespan of less than half a decade, just like yolo.

Sam Brown

Here's a fun tidbit: Emily Cicierega did a storyboard for a different version of the end-credits scene that didn't get approved, but was really hilarious. It goes like: Soos is rolling in the corn, making crop-circle like formations that say "I'M BORED." A passing helicopter sees the message. "Quick, that guy's bored!" the co-pilot says. They swoop down to Soos, and hand him a children's activity book that says "MAZE FUN" and then fly away. Soos says "Oh sweet, I love mazes." End scene.

Bologna Amputation

i am a white guy who is both proud and happy to be white, so kick rocks dude. any race has the right to be proud of their accomplishments. if you have a problem with that then maybe have a hard look at yourself and figure out why

Lukrasta

I'm goated with the sauce...

Gildarts1#fan

40:22 sorta a community thing since the women in question who Vegas-married Stan and about 24 hours later disappears after swiping all of his stuff was named Marilyn Rosenstein. And in The Owl House episode Yesterday's Lie we see Eda goes by the name Marilyn whenever she visits Earth.

Elias Cristerna

It's not confirmed, but it's HEAVILY implied that Eda is Stan's ex. In Journal 3, the real book, it's revealed that Stan was married to a woman named Marilyn for six hours in Vegas, and Eda goes by Marylin in the human realm. Also, in an in-character commentary track for the Season 1 episode Land Before Swine, Stan describes his ex-wife as having a sharp tooth, large hair, and a shirt that reads "over thirty and flirty", which is written on Eda's Apple Blood mug.

Jay Redmond

Oh because white pride is so openly encouraged in this day and age? And no I don't wish it to be, let people's characters stand for themselves... but then minorities tie their identities to their heritage and white people are hated if they do... hypocrisy. Again I don't wish to be able to, I just think others doing so but berating others for doing so is problematic.

Silver Blade

Bro, as a cracker myself: stfu literally go outside and talk to people. This isn't cute or endearing; it's cringe. Even from a progressive stance, it's cringe. You are literally being embarrassing to be associated with.

Marion Ette

My whigga. Touch grass.

N00B

I don't mind being called autistic. What they gon' do? Teleport me into a public event that requires understanding social queues?

N00B

Remember: Links are cringe. Using the name of the video instead would be better.

N00B

Bad take? Nope! Dipcifica is one of, if not the biggest ships of the whole show.

King of flames

30:15 - EXACTLY!! just say -" I am getting over a crush and my grunkle taught me how to talk to girls on this roadtrip for me to get over her. and he told me I wouldn't see any of you again and just let that be"

Silver Blade

The quirked up discussion pisses me off deeply because it’s not even on topic anymore, “quirked up” has different connotations from “quirky”

Ranginald Vagel

8:50 wow... a lot of not white people thinking we would like to be called that.... also .. in this day and age - highlighting our race as white people = not a good thing... like at all... who would have thunk? so no - I'd rather feel the race shame and just hide, thank you very much

Silver Blade

If you check this YouTube https://youtu.be/7rJ-sBAhzE0?si=OSnMR9M18faDRffR This has the voice actor of Grunkle Stan talking about his ex wife and proving that Eda was married to him for a short while
